Doctor Who S1E1 ROSE - PATREON VERSION

This is a first draft, please let me know if the audio is ok. The mix of this show is all over the place (i think there is something wrong with the audio).

But hopefully its passable.

And as this was the December Poll winner, I will publish this episode to all paid tiers.

Suggestions and feedback welcome :)

Enjoy!

Fantastic stuff so happy that you're starting this show I believe the best show won this was such a family favourite when I was a kid a really miss shows like this where watching it becomes a family activity I remember the excitement as a kid every Saturday getting together because Doctor Who was on super excited to take this journey with you

I think I'm in the minority among fans of Who reactions cause in my crappy opinion, those either aren't worth watching, or in some cases even detract from going into an episode blind. (except for maybe 2 or 3 of them). Just my 2¢ though don't let my opinion to dissuade you from watching whatever you like 😆 (especially if most your audience wants to see it!) FWIW, in addition to the minisodes and some charity content that are "extra" there's gonna also be specials that are *not* extra -- the first one you encounter will *probably* be labelled as "S2E0" but some streaming services muck things up. At any rate, there is typically a Christmas special that ends up falling in between seasons, and you should watch those specials.

there's a lot of minisode content that starts from about the end of the this series. they're not always relevant or super important but they're usually fun. i've hear other reactors talk about having a list with links

Mickey is a nice guy and a bit useless. Perfectly summed up. We don't, however, talk about his actor anymore.

The Kennedy Assassination is a little in-joke; the show first aired on that day (and nobody watched it as they were all watching the news). It got repeated the next day

It didn’t click while watching S20 of TM but Phill Ellis and The Doctor have a similar vibe.

Loving the music in the beginning

Krista

Oh hell yeah! This is gonna be a fun and camp journey.

I skip any "next time" previews for everything

I was one of those 3 year olds who hid behind the couch when the intro music came on. My first memory of watching the show was with the 3rd and 4th doctors - Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker. I even knitted a Doctor Who scarf which I can never wear coz it’s just too long and hot for Aussie weather. This show has everything.

Sandra

You asked some questions that I'm biting my tongue not to answer 🤣 and I hope nobody else does either. Everyone is used to reactors asking rhetorical questions, I think. You cut when the Next Time bit was paused -- did you watch it? Just curious really, a lot of people go out of their way to skip them. I might've told you this before but this show is notorious for spoiling itself. (sometimes in those "Next Time" bits, occasionally in the opening credits for the episode).

Fizzbuzz

I know I am being optimistic saying we're starting a long journey here :) But I do want to say: no pressure if for some reason it doesn't click for you, I wouldn't want you to feel obligated to keep going, it wouldn't be fun. That said, I do imagine you're going to end up loving it and keep going.

Fizzbuzz

I've watched more people react to this show than I can count but really, it's been their YouTube edits -- so this is the first time in a VERY long time that I've actually sat down and rewatched Rose in it's entirety, and the same will be true for this entire journey we're about to go on. I'm overdue for a complete full rewatch of everything, so this is great timing! ❤️

Camille Caduri starred opposite John Goodman in King Ralph and with Robbie Coltrane and Eric Idle in Nuns on the Run

Richard Pearce

This series is gonna be so nostalgic for me, glad you’re watching this series, I always thought Christopher Eccleston was a fantastic Doctor

I like Bobby Fish… but he’s got this fish gimmick

All over the place in a good way. 😊

Jennifer T

YES!

Sandra

Awesome reaction! It's a little bit cheesy looking for sure - the show was famously made on a shoe-string originally, and bringing it back was a risk, so the BBC didn't give them a huge budget (compared to the late David Tennant era when they basically gave them the budget of a movie for every episode). There's a lot of nostalgia here for me... I was 17 when this aired and it was my whole personality for a while!

Emma Samuel

yayy!!! so glad the bad cgi doesn’t throw you off. the visuals are a little rough the first couple of seasons and sometimes it can be off putting for reactors, but if you just accept it as a nostalgic feature of the 2000s then you can truly love dr who for all it’s cheesy sci-fi-ness 💕 excited for the adventures ahead. and yes, billie piper is in her prime here, holy god 😩
