My favourite occurrence of carpe diem is from Dead Poet's Society. "Carpe diem boys, sieze the day."

It’s devastating, but also lovely that the Captain dies looking into Havers’ eyes, and he has Havers’ swagger stick forever. I love it that this is the only time the Captain’s name is said by anyone. When he was asked about this scene Ben said: “All I can say is I’m sorry.” Ben said he was in tears before they shot the scene.

It didn't break me like some other episodes did, but the heavy heavy feeling of cap and what he's been holding onto all these years was unbelievably powerful

This episode broke me when I first watched it.
And with the laws being what they were I’ve always wondered what happened to Havers after that moment he had with the Captain.
After all back then it wasn’t even legal to be gay, but in the British army you couldn’t even be openly gay until the early 2000s. He risked everything (life and job) by just being there to comfort the Captain.
(And Achey Breaky Heart was definitely on purpose to show that actually the Captain died of a broken heart)
