About Robin learning French without being taught is mostly just him learning like a child picks up their language. Since he would not have had any language at all at the start he had to pick up any languages that way. It’s just repetition and figuring out what they mean by observation and deduction. It’s how he learned English and apparently also French and Russian

By the way, Larry has won Mastermind, Ben and Larry have won Pointless as a team, Ben and Jim have won Pointless as a team and Larry and Jim have both won House of Games. There are strong rumours that one of the six idiots is on the next series of Taskmaster.
