Let Justice Be Done Ch. 92
Added 2021-12-06 14:15:38 +0000 UTCLady Nineve stood in front of Lady Viviane's home with a blank look. The lessons on etiquette, presentation and intent by Lady Maeve that had been drilled into her, were easy to have at the forefront of her mind.
As the Fairy Godmother of the child Lancelot of Raguel, she was in an enviable position to gain much power and influence at her beck and call in the future. More than just her personal magical might, having influence was far more important. Specially for one who didn't hold talent for combat, such as herself.
She knocked on the door and wait, her smile one was a simple one that she practiced hundreds to times before. Lady Maeve was...it wasn't completely wrong to call her harsh, but she was fair, in not punishing Nineve except to correct a mistake. If she would have done something for the sake of cruelty as a typical fae would, she only informed her rather than actually do it. Lady Maeve's explanation that following through those punishments would have been a waste of energy, thus didn't bother.
In a way Lady Maeve really was the embodiment of her title, she was empty of all emotions, rather using those of others when she wanted, exactly as how the ideal fae would act.
Nineve felt the Winter Queen's presences at the back of her mind. Simply there, watching. The door opened to a smiling Raguel carrying the baby Lancelot.
And suddenly Nineve's entire training and newly forged persona was in jeopardy as seeing baby Lancelot with his tiny hands in his mouth, was a bit more adorable than anticipated.
Of course, the sheer deadpan feeling and exasperation from the Winter Queen, had Nineve back on track with her act.
"Good evening, Lord Raguel. I have come at the appointed time as I forewarned you, and am now here to start my duties as Fairy Godmother." Nineve said with all the elegance and poise one would expect from a noble lady.
The feeling transmitted by the Winter Queen...if Nineve had an image for it, it would be as if Queen Mab just facepalmed, although Nineve can't imagine why. She acted the role of a fairy hiding nothing perfectly.
The piercing stare she got from Raguel, froze her as tried to act casual. His eyes...there was something scary about them. It was as if any defense or illusion that she was proud of and could conjured would be completely seen through.
"You changed your name to Nineve?" Raguel finally asked.
"Neeyaya." Lancelot cooed.
Nineve had to struggle not to respond to the baby and ruin her image. "It was the name her Majesty had bestowed upon me, and one I am proud to wear as my own."
"Hmm, hmm." Raguel nodded, as he turned around.
"Humph, humph," baby Lancelot tried to copy his father, as he turned in Raguel's arms, to look at Nineve over his father's shoulder.
This time Nineve couldn't help herself, and smiled and waved at the infant, who smiled back and tried and failed to copy her, hitting Raguel's head instead.
Nineve felt disapproval from the Winter Queen, which made her stop, but she couldn't help but enjoy interacting with the infant, as they were no schemes or judgement in such exchange.
Now, she had to put on a brave face, as she interacted with the Archangel and her fellow Lady of the Lake. As Lady Maeve had said, Nineve lucked out in a lot of influence and allies, now she just need to take and use these resources for her goals.
No matter what, nothing will make her falter, or make a fool of herself anymo--
"Vivi! Eleen choose knowledge as her reward from the Winter Queen, changed her true name, and is now using 'Nineve' as her fake name!" Raguel called, breaking all stoic training out of Nineve.

AN: I...I feel zapped of drive and imagination recently. I have the plot outlined, but the details to getting there, and the motivation to write it are less lately. This is short, but I figured posting something is better then nothing, in getting back into daily writing.
