Thanks for that Jordan, appreciate the detail you've put in there, really interesting to hear what happened to the guys in the show, hope they are all doing ok now as well.

most "roughing the kicker" calls do not apply if the player is going for, and blocks the punt, prior to hitting the kicker. hes making a play on the ball, not the kicker. so now a days you see lots of kickers kick and try to throw their body into a defender to see if they can get the foul. if the player did not block the punt, yet ran into kicker... could very well be a roughing penalty.

Nu'ua went to Murray State on scholarship which is D1 (FCS, a step below the top level, formally known as D1-AA). Rejzohn Wright went to Oregon State which was a power 5 conference team at the time (the Pac-12 has since been all but dissolved), so his offer was very good. He's been on NFL practice squads for the last 3 years. Walker walking on at Hawaii is also a decent landing spot. Plenty of kids start their careers as walk-ons. and he did get a scholarship in 2021. Everyone else, D2 is about the best you can hope for coming from a Junior College. D1 is the FBS (133 teams, any school you've heard of or seen on TV is likely in the FBS) and then there's the FCS which is an additional 100 or so teams. The Ivy League schools play at this level amongst a couple other schools that you've probably heard of like Villanova. The FBS is what it's all about though. No one really cares about the FCS outside of the schools in it. They put a few of their games on TV and their playoffs but it's not even close to as big of a deal as the FBS. Most FCS teams biggest exposure is getting paid $1M to go lose to teams like Alabama by 70 points. The occasional FCS team upsetting a power conference FBS team does happen though and is always fun. 90+ percent of drafted players in the NFL come from FBS teams. There's always a handful of FCS guys that get drafted but it's much less. Then there's D2 and D3 in the NCAA. These are really small schools and come with virtually no fanfare. D3 offers no scholarships. You'll maybe see a D2 guy get drafted in the NFL once every blue moon. Nowadays though, anyone that does good will just transfer to a bigger school at the FCS or FBS level so it's even more rare. There's a couple other non-NCAA smaller college leagues like the NAIA which typically don't include scholarships. They're about on par with D3 in terms of talent. and then even below that is the junior/community colleges like Laney. The difference with the junior colleges compared to D3 and even D2 though is you get some guys that actually are good enough to play at a high level as we see, but they probably have an academic issue keeping them from getting into a real university right out of high school. That's why the series is amply named "Last Chance U" as it pertains to junior college football programs.

Congrats to your nephew!

That’s awesome. My Brother and I both went to college but for baseball. People don’t realize how hard it is cause not only do you have to slowly improve at your sport… you also gotta goto class and get good grades and if you don’t have support get a side job to make gas money or a car or whatever

Trey M

@32:25 that was the people selected to all conference eventhough the team didn’t make it in HS and college they do an all conference team which is best at that position in the conference so those guys got voted in to win. Think it was 2 O linemen and someone else

Trey M

Gotta react to the 1st season!

Calvin Wilks

Rejzohn got 1st team all conference at Oregon State, spent 2023 on practice squads for Panthers and Raiders but signed to active roster this offseason for the Saints. He made it.

The first season of the EMCC season is a good one to watch.

I definitely recommend last chance U EMCC season 1, probably the most talented team of the entire series

You might wanna check out the Last Chance U basketball seasons. Doesn't matter which season you pick. It's also easier to follow the entire team since it's only 12 guys plus the coaches. Edit : The punt was partially blocked so you're allowed to make contact with the kicker after the fact. That's why so many roughing the kicker fouls get called because the defender takes a risk and dives for the ball, doesn't get there in time, and makes contact with the kicker. The "All-Conference" thing is basically like an all star team for the best players in their conference. They don't play a game or anything, but it's an accolade and looks good on your resume for recruiting.
