The ferocity of Long John Silver's attack caught them all by surprise, even Silver himself. He surveyed the wreckage of their makeshift camp and winced at the singed and decapitated bodies lying about.
"That's, well, that's a bit much ever fer me, t'be honest," he muttered. The Hawkins boy was nowhere to be found, Mr. Arrow had been reduced to rubble, that dratted catlike captain was barely alive, the robot blown to pieces... the only one of the scallywags who was unhurt was that mincing ship's doctor... Doppler, was it?
"You monster!" Delbert Doppler cried at Silver, "if any of us make it out of here alive, I shall personally see to it that..."
"Now, now, Doc, belay that," Silver growled. There wasn't much time. One of these lubbers had seen the map, and he'd never find Flint's treasure if all of them were pushing up daisies. "The way I sees it, we can help yer friends -- a couple o' them at least -- if ya button yer flap and do what I say!"
"W-w-hat do you mean?" Doppler asked, uncomprehending.
Silver flexed his robotic arm. "They said I was near-gone when the doctor patched me up, see? Now look, you have parts, you have a medical bay back on yer ship -- you have half a captain and half a robot here, and two halves make a whole, savvy?"
"I... I don't..."
"Use the parts from one t'fix the other!" Silver bellowed. "She don't belong to Davy Jones just yet, so if we hurry and patch her leaks, well, ya never know, do ya?"
It began to dawn on Dr. Doppler what the pirate was proposing.
"I'm not THAT sort of doctor, you fiend. I have a doctorate in astronomy, yes, but even with the medical equipment... why... even if it were theoretically possible, the legal and ethical ramifications of what you are proposing..."
In the end, Silver got his way. Captain Amelia's feline species was notoriously hardy, and she remained alive after three excruciating day of cybernetic tinkering. Her new body contained most of the shattered B.E.N., as well as parts from the ship's computer and flotsam from Treasure Planet.
....however, her traumatized mind wasn't much help finding Flint's treasure -- in fact, she barely remembered who she was. But her body was remarkably apt. When a frustrated Silver tried to blundgeon her in rage, she killed him with little effort or understanding of what she'd done.
In the end, Dr. Doppler and a very-transformed Captain Amelia were left to make their way back to Montressor. What would happen next, who could say?
