The Horned King may have been defeated, but some of his essence lingered in the Black Cauldron, along with that of Gurgi and other beings who had fallen into it over the ages... Princess Eilonwy didn't know that, of course, or she would have never tasted the eldritch green goo that filled it. Pure magic, it was, irresistible to mere mortals!
Taran may have lost his magic sword, but now he has a princess made of pure dark magic at his side!
