Optimization updates #2 (w/ new leaks)

Ugh, so from my previous optimization updates poll post, at the time of this writing, 79% voted for Ignore optimization and continue content updates, which is completely alright, to be honest.

However!!!!

Sooner or later, optimization will haunt us again. It's more like execution at this point and my obsession with quality animation. I mean, look at this:

For how simple the game is and considerably light it is in terms of file size, it consumes a gigaton of visual memory (VRAM), which might be causing those crashes during the loading screens.

Our only option is really just to reduce the quality of animation to around 21fps for the current animation and 24fps for future ones since I think that's reasonable.

I'm really just stupid for thinking that 60fps is the best, which it is, but ugh.

Anyway, I guess my previous optimization updates poll post is basically useless now? Well, yeah.

BUT!!!!!!

Spicy stuff are coming.

After we reduce the current animation assets from 60fps to 21fps (I'm just going to use code to delete PNGs at a certain interval per animation cycle then reimport them manually), we plan to continue working on new lewd stuff, gameplay and a lot more.

We started doing some concept arts for new positions today:

While working on finalizing them, figuring out which of them can be added immediately and how to add the others eventually, we plan to work on a new map system, which would allow the creation of new areas like the library, toilet, etc etc.

This in turn unlocks the possibility for new lewd animations, tentacle variations and so much more.

Please bear in mind that now all of these stuff are guaranteed to be added, as implementing them into the game is always a different question altogether.

Anyway, I'm going to end this post with another poll (multiple choice) since why not. (Vote the stuff you're interested and ignore the ones that youre not)

Actually, for 2D games you can use fewer frames of animation. 60 frames is too many, 24 is fine, but you can use less.

Ben the Beholder

Do what you have to do! 60fps is far more than necessary for a 2d game.

Sean Bates

Honestly, 24 frames is fine. Probably wouldn't even notice. It's really only noticeable with large movements or rapid ones.

Nevar

That's something we'd love to do as well :)

I'd love to see the 'sound' improved, YES! ; P
