Here’s my dormitory diary entry for September.

Lately, I’ve been drawing using a display tablet. I used to work with a pen tablet, but since the company provided a display tablet, I decided to give it a try! At first, I found it a bit awkward compared to the pen tablet, but once I got used to it, drawing became much more intuitive and enjoyable. Incidentally, I’ve heard that many animators use display tablets. When I used a pen tablet, people often commented, "That must be hard to draw with!" But I still think there are plenty of advantages to using a pen tablet—like not having your hand cover the screen, and it’s easier to maintain good posture.

I’d like to try out different tools to see which works best for me in the long run. I’m still using a pen tablet at home, but the more I use the display tablet, the more I want one for home as well. I thought I might replace my current tablet when it breaks, but after 10 years of use, it still shows no signs of giving up. So, I guess an upgrade will have to wait a bit longer.

9月の寮生日記を投稿します。

最近液晶タブレットを使って絵を描いています。今まで板タブレットを使っていたのですが、会社で液タブを支給していただけるとのことだったので使わせてもらうことにしました！

最初は板タブとの違いに描きにくさを感じましたが、慣れると直感的に絵を描けてとても楽しいです。ちなみにアニメーターは液タブを使う方が多いらしいです。板タブを使っていると「描きにくそう！」と良く言われますが、板タブを使うメリットはたくさんあると思っています。手で画面が隠れない、姿勢が悪くなりにくいなど…。その上でいろんな道具にチャレンジして、より自分に合ったものを見つけていければなと思います。

家ではこれまでと同じく板タブを使っているのですが、思ったよりも使い心地が良くて家でも液タブを使いたいと思うようになりました。

今使っているものが壊れたら買い換えようかと思いましたが、10年ほど使っているのにも関わらず全然壊れる気配がしないので、買い換えるのはまだ先になりそうです。
