November Dormitory Diary Entry - Kimura

Long time no see. This is Animator Dormitory resident Kimura.

Here we are for another year, already in November. Time moves quickly.

I succeeded in drawing over 200 frames in October. I can see how much my new fellow residents are drawing through these diaries; it’s hard not to feel in a rush to do more myself, but I still plan on going at pace.

I went to one of my senior’s art exhibit the other day. I guess it was their first one. The place was packed and reminded me of the overseas anime event I went to last June. It still sticks with me that people showed up to that event just to see us. Being a commercial animator, I don’t often get the chance to interact with the people appreciating the product, so going to events and art exhibitions is something I decided that I’d do more often. I’m super, super busy with work and dormitory stuff, but I hope to take some time one of these days and make some art myself.

ご無沙汰しております。寮生の木村です。

今年もあっという間に１１月になってしまいました。早いです。

10月は目標の200枚をこなせました。後輩たちがたくさん描いているのを日記で知り、焦る気持ちが強いですが、自分のペースでコツコツ進めていこうと思っています。

先日、先輩の個展に行ってきました。初個展だったらしいです。展示で賑わっているのを見て、6月に行った海外のイベントを思い出しました。自分たち目当てで会場に足を運んでくれる方がいるというのはとても心に残っています。商業アニメーターだと関わった作品を見てくれる方に直接関われる機会がないので、自分でもなにかイベントに参加したり、展示をしたいなという気持ちになりました。今は仕事や寮の企画でいっぱいいっぱいなので、いつか時間を作って作品づくりをしたいです。
