November Dormitory Diary Entry - Ura

I’m so looking forward to seeing Suzume no Tojimari this month!
Here’s my dormitory diary entry for November.
Suzume no Tojimari will be the first Makoto Shinkai film in 3 years, and boy can I not WAIT to see all of his beautiful imagery again. I’ve been following the movie somewhat closely since the first preview and I’m really excited to watch it.
One of my bucket list goals is to work as a key animator on a big-time movie like this one, hopefully also directed by Makoto Shinkai or Mamoru Hosoda. I think I’d feel comfortable calling myself a noteworthy animator if I could work on a film that even people who don’t normally watch anime would go and see. As of now, I’m not ready to move up to key animation just yet, but I’ll keep working at it for sure.
Side note, but around the end of last month I contacted one of my teachers from my vocational school and told them what I was up to. They responded back and I could tell from their messages that they were really happy for me, and that made a positive impact on me.
I found out that a new animator at MAPPA did the keyframes for the 3rd ED of Chainsaw Man, so I told them that I’d been feeling somewhat in a rush to improve, and I think they had some good words in response. “It’s not always better to take the quickest route in your career, feel free to take it slow every once and a while.” Thanks to them, I’ve been a bit kinder to myself.

こんにちは。
今月はすずめの戸締まりが非常に楽しみな浦です。11月の寮生日記です。
3年ぶりの新海誠作品ということで、またあの綺麗な映像が観られると思うとわくわくします。予告の段階からかなり気になっていたので、早く観てみたいです。
私の将来的な目標として、今回のような新海誠監督や細田守監督といったような大きな劇場版の企画に原画として参加する、ということがあります。普段アニメを観ないような人でも観に来るような作品に関わることができたら、ある程度認められたアニメーターになれると思うからです。今はまだ実力も何も原画にすら上がっていませんが、コツコツと頑張っていきたいです。
話が変わりますが、先月末に専門でお世話になった先生方に近況の連絡をしました。返信も返していただいて、その文章から喜んでいる様子が伝わってきてこちらも元気を貰いました。
チェンソーマンの3話のEDでMAPPAの新人が原画を描いているらしく、少し焦っているということを伝えると、「キャリアアップは早ければ良いというわけでは無いから、焦らず今のうちに沢山原画を見て糧にして下さい。」といったことを返してくれて、嬉しかったです。お陰で少し余裕ができました。
これからもたまに近況を伝えていきたいなと思います。
