Thank you for your support. Shimai here.
I watched the leaves on my way to work this morning, fallen from branches and waiting in the wind. They resembled a nice bit of animation and made me think of of Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese aesthetic of impermanence — or maybe it Fūryū? No, Miyabi?! So anyway, that was my commute to work. I was just doing an assignment too where I had to draw hair flowing in the wind; I couldn’t help but think that the wind was somehow literary blowing inspiration my way.
By the way, the other day (October 3rd) was "Anpanman Day," or the 34th anniversary of the anime "Soreike! Anpanman."
Anpanman is one of the anime that inspired me to become an animator. It's part of my soul and makes up a large part of who I am. Every day I hope that my illustrations and animations, like those of Takashi Yanase-Sensei, can also be a source of spiritual nourishment for someone else, just as his are for me. That's why I get out of bed in the morning and do what I do.
I'm going back to my hometown for the first time in forever this week for a three-day weekend for my class reunion! I'm so excited~!
Now if you excuse me—!
