Hello everyone, Kaneko here.
This is my exclusive diary entry for August.
I still went to the office during the Obon holiday to work as usual. I get so hot working long hours at the animation desk that I lose concentration, so I’ve been bringing a chilled water bottle with me every day. Looks like it’ll come in handy for a while.
In addition to the unannounced project we’re doing at the company, we have 4 other works in the pipeline. It feels like everyone at the company, not just the in-between animators, are working overtime. Lately, we’ve been doing re-take corrections on cuts all rush, so we’re juggling a lot of deadlines. (All rush is a term we use when we watch an episode all the way through to make sure there are no out-of-place cuts or movements.)
I’m gradually getting used to my work, and I feel like I’m spending less time panicking while animating. I’ve been trying to be proactive about taking up cuts with lots of walking and running, but more often than not I have to be corrected by the animation inspectors. I save all of the correction sheets so I can look back on them later, but there’s a lot of tween frames and unique movements to each character so it’s been a bit difficult. I wanna get better as fast as I can and hand in something that gets past inspection on the first try.
