Hello, it’s Kaneko.
Here’s my dormitory diary entry for August.
Japan has been experiencing some severe weather this month. Typhoons, heavy rain, all that jazz. How are all of you holding up?
I took up some work outside of our company project and it went live the other day. I can’t disclose the name of the show, but most Japanese people know it, even if they’re not familiar with anime. I was only in charge of one cut, so I only got a few seconds of screen time, but that was the first time I’d ever seen my drawings live on TV. I was a bit taken back.
Fresh out of training, I used to only draw rather simple cuts, but recently, I've gotten used to the work and have started to take up heavier cuts.
When we first start the in-between animation process, we look at the timing sheet and any motion indicators drawn by the keyframe artist while we tween, but when there are no motion indicators, the in-between animator has to consider the motion of the action as we tween. That means drawing in full-blown panic mode. At the moment, I'm drawing cuts with various kinds of movement to gain some experience with this. I wanna be able to draw without slowing down on any cut that gets thrown at me! I’ll try my best!
