Hey everyone, it’s Kaneko. Apologies for my late post.
Here’s my exclusive dormitory diary entry for July.
Wearing a mask in the blazing sun is really getting to me, so I’m trying to only leave the house early in the morning or late at night. I’m extremely thankful that there’s a 24-hour supermarket nearby.
It's been about a month since I finished the training. Sometimes I look back at the cleanups I did during that time and notice some disconnected lines or limp curves. They feel really messy to me now. My lines are much cleaner now compared to then, so going forward I’m gonna try shortening the amount of time it takes me to do a clean-up and up my frames per hour.
At first, it took me about three days to complete a 10-page cut, but recently I've been able to do that in two or less. The number of corrections I get from the in-between inspectors has also decreased dramatically, so I'm happy to see that growth. Since the middle of July, I’ve worked on about four shows, including some sub-contracted stuff. When we do in-between work, we have to be conscious of the character designs and reference material (stuff like whether or not eyebrows/eyes are visible through hair, how to draw highlights, and whether or not there's motion indicators) and if there are any absent lines in the keyframes or any parts that stray from the reference material, we have to go back and draw in that stuff, so working with different reference material every day was pretty rough. On the flip side, though, I got to see layouts and keyframes by many different artists, so I learned a lot.
I'm looking forward to seeing my name in some credits, although it will be a while before I can tell my parents and teachers about what I’m working on.
