Hello everyone.
It’s Kimura. Here’s my exclusive diary entry for June.
After training, I went straight into in-between animation work, no longer working from home but going to the office. Swapping workplaces has been a bit disorienting, but luckily I got to take it easy and rest for the holidays.
Now that I’m out and about, I’d like to start talking to more people around the office, though it’s hard to actually take the initiative when the opportunity presents itself. I understand that it'll get harder to talk to people as time goes by, I just keep missing my chance.
I’m among the first generation of in-between animators at my company and I feel that everyone in production cares about me, I just gotta get my timing right.
Now, about my work, I haven’t been able to complete as many frames as I’d like. Animators don’t just draw, we also make composition slips, timesheets, movement indicators, and more. The guidelines that we receive for each project vary by company, and instructions change depending on which key animator did the layout. Changing note styles each time makes things difficult.
There are days when I get to 40 frames and days where I can only get to 2 frames. It really depends on the difficulty of the cut. I’m aiming for at least 5 per day, then to be able to draw 10 soon after that. I’ll do my best.
