Hello everyone, it’s Kimura.
Here’s my dormitory diary entry for July.
A state of emergency has been issued here in Japan. How are all of your holding up? I’ve been working remotely ever since I got my job, but today it’s been decided that I’ll begin coming into the office. I feel this has been a long time coming.
Working from home from the get-go, I’ve never thought of it as bothersome. On the contrary, I’ve always been able to work at my own leisure inside, so the idea of working outside feels uncomfortable. It takes a lot of energy to work in an unfamiliar place…
But there’s still a lot to look forward to, like being able to talk to different sorts of people and watch great artists work up close. Particularly that second one. Seeing great artists draw is a big source of motivation for me. It’s also reassuring to know that there are others around me doing the same work as me. I think I’m gonna do well here!
This also marks the end of my three-month training period. Finally, some actual work!
I got some hands-on interaction with actual production materials during training, and of course, that was a bit nerve-wracking. I’m looking forward to seeing my name in the credits, though.
Now, moving forward, I’m gonna gather several years of animation experience. My next goal will be getting some credibility as a key animation director and eventually making a storyboard. To do that, I need to try drawing all the time, even in my downtime. I’d like to take this time in my in-between animation stage to thrive. I’ll give it my all!
Unrelated, but I’m currently learning more about camera lenses.
July 6th, 2021,
Kimura.
