I think the lotus episode is really where everyone turned on the show. Most people familiar with percy jackson absolutely love that sequence, but it felt like a holiday inn not a casino. The most hyped up episode was the most dry. I don't mind direct changes from the book, however the runtime did not support those changes. With only eight 30 minute episodes, the emotional impact was nonexistent. Luke's betrayal turned into "oh it was that guy". The threat of war felt like the barbie movie's war. Also the group's interactions felt off, not enough back and forth. Didn't feel like I got the lightning thief story experience, but a youtube 5 min recap.

I honestly agreed with all of your points. Once we reached the halfway point of the show the short length and lack of depth started to get more annoying. I am a huge fan of the books and I really hope that this show did enough numbers for them to invest in coming back for season 2 and the rest of the main 5 books. The actors are older at this point, and I would love to see what they will do now that they don't have to worry about much so much world building.

agreed with almost everything yall said! no stakes, rushed scenes, no proper charater development due to shorten or changed storylines, etc. tbh this was my fav commentary by yall because of the weird/disappointing turn the season took. rewatching the finale, i really love beauty and joys TV gives us when telling stories (Toby and Walker's non-verbal emotional exchange, the score, Lance's barely restrained wrath in his eyes, the kids final group hug, etc) but like yall said many things could have been done in the 30min episodes to make this episode feel deserved (idk how to say it better). The bugdet is a huge problem imo. That will dictate if this series can survive past season 2 and without sacrificing important scenes/storylines in order for the 23rd executive producer to get their yearly bonus. What did you think of them changing the casino scene from them indulging the lotus flowers to a just conversation with Hermes? Do you think the changed deadline worked overall? Did you think any of the changes made paid off in the end? What changes did you like, if any, and what do you hope they do not change at all next season?
