"North Shore High" is in Evanston in the movie (a real town), but the high school itself is based off New Trier High School in Winnetka, where I graduated from in 2017. New Trier also served as the inspiration for The Breakfast Club. John Hughes shot both interior and exterior footage at high schools around the area for most of those teen films as well. "The Home Alone House" is also in the same town as New Trier, and attracts a lot of tourists around Christmas.
