We had some issues with power failures for roughly two days that slowed down production, but we're over it and have been steadily making progress. A lot of time was spent writing and save for some short scenes that we want to rewrite, we are 95% done with the Veera route and around 85% done with the no-Veera route.
We've also been looking for an additional background artist to help speed up production. We are still in negotiations but have narrowed it down to around a half dozen artists. We now have to pick one while taking quality of work, availability and budget into account.
On the coding end we made some changes to the project, mostly visuals.
- Changed narrator text color to off-white (It looks much better now)
- Implemented new textboxes and nameboxes for UI
- Changed Mayvheen's color to be more complimentary with new UI
- Changed Veera's color to be more complimentary with new UI
- Changed Katya's color to be more complimentary with new UI
- Modified additional GUI elements (I'm actually starting to feel like the UI is getting there)
- Found sizing that feels right for side portraits (We played around with larger, faces only, smaller half bodies, circular lenses for portraits and all kinds of variations inbetween. Settled on roughly shoulder height images)
- Cleaned up sprite images to pop a bit more and cleaned up some linework
- Implemented some changes to Veera's path to make the story flow better
We wanted to add backlog of written story to the project and start formatting it, but was delayed due to the power issues. It's mostly the ending where the branches come together again and setting the stage for the next episode.
I'd say we are still on track for the SuNoFest submission deadline. The only potential delays currently is the backgrounds, but we are committed to the release date, even if we have to use placeholder art for backgrounds.
