Thank you for the reaction 😊 This show is about all kinds of addictions, including addiction to people, toxic relationships and codependency. I know girls like Maddy, her thought process is exactly what I heard from friends who were abused but only realized it years later. It’s sad but domestic violence victims are so harshly criticized and dehumanized when they’re not sympathetic and don’t make the “perfect victim” which makes it that much harder for them to face reality. We forget how deeply rooted it is in our society like how little girls are taught from a young age that if boys hit them or pull their hair it means they like them… But just like addiction to drugs, people still have trouble understanding why someone would choose self-destructive behavior over bettering themselves so they shame them all the while forgetting how severe and deadly it can become.
