I can't speak for everyone else, but even after such traumatic events, I absolutely hold no grudge with American citizens, because they're Americans. Everybody knows there's a lot that the US Government does and hides it from the public opinion, exactly because they know how people would react if they know everything they're doing.
The only thing that triggers me, it's when I hear this bullshit rhetoric that the US leads "the free world" and the US is a symbol of freedom, democracy and a humanism and human rights defender. That boils the blood of people who live in countries that have been subject to this kind of intervention on behalf of the US.
