Thanks a lot! I knew you never watched any movie like this before, this movie is one of a kind. The writter, Ariano Suassuna is heavily influenced by medieval Iberian(Portuguese and Spanish) theatrical literature. In Medieval Portugal and Spain there would be plays written on this style(called Auto) being presented all the time. This author is a genius because he manages to take the same school of writting and using this ambience of a recently founded Republic in Brazil, still very much in under the influence of the Empire ways. I'm not religious myself, I'm atheist since I was 14, but I've been in Catholic Schools my whole life(it's very usual in South America) and I certainly am very critical of the Catholic Church, but I fuck with this movie a lot because of the duality presented that actually exists in the Catholic Church. This movie is very popular, I felt I had to suggest it for the YT fans sake, people ask it so much. Next movie!
