MAP part 39 wip - Pure Imagination

Can't remember ever having this fun with roughs before! very excited for this part >:)

Editing each butterfly's path was tedious but so happy with how they turned out!

Small rant about Falcon's rough animation below!

I really let go off trying to keep things consistent right from such an early stage, I tend to overcomplicate and lose the character acting in all the focus on volume consistency, and lose a lot of time trying to make the roughs too detailed.

The combo of now being more used to drawing falcon from all the previous pure imagination work, less perfectionistic based mindset/pressure on this collab as well as trying to actually treat keyframes as their own individual sketches has made this a much easier and faster process!

Throughout the years I've had the habit of trying to plan out the movement, timing charts etc too early, instead of trying to sketch out key poses first and filling in from there. As well as once I have one keyframe sketch, I look way too much at it as I try and work on the following ones rather than, again, treating them as their own solid sketches. This (attempt to keep things consistent) often made the proportions more odd, time consuming and stiff.

As I was working on the roughs I came across this video from the lion king 2 production, and it just clicked seeing how only certain rough keys were fully sketched out, and the focus lied withing core elements like the lipsync or head rotations. Even though I know good animation processes, it really helped me focus on a similar method for this wip, and I'm very happy about it!
