Paw pictorial/studies
Added 2021-06-23 14:26:33 +0000 UTCFinally took some time to put this together since a paw tutorial has been heavily requested! The tricky part is the fact that I don't have much of a process, I have always been someone who just redraws until I have things memorized rather than building it up with shapes/guidelines!
I tried to make a somewhat showcase of how I translate paws into my style and I hope it can help in some way!
General tips is to understand the 3d shapes, sculpting a small paw yourself and work with different angles, alongside photo references are sure to help with such, a healthy dose of other's styles and art to help stylize them is good too!
What I feel many don't mention is the importance of being varied too, looking at the art examples I always try to keep in mind the character as a whole, reflecting their personality and figure through style traits such as paws!
Good examples of this would be comparing Crowsong's more sharp, defined and cubic paw shapes to Loulou's small, round and softer shapes!
