Have been working with several Ai tools to get Njorijanna to talk. Its Video 2 Video so that we could save some time by filming the voice actress and apply the expressions over the face in real time as Njorijanna walks around on the 3D set in the content. I've tried the best of the best, but they are dodgy, they need another year or two. And they took away some of the charm of Njorijanna like her lengthy canine Teeth, I supplied 3500 references pictures of her to the ai to get it right in Lora, but still did'nt.
My conclusion is:
Its better to stick with 3D fully. While I like the idea of Ai, a fully animated model in 3D brings something familiar and authentic to the table. The games, movies and other entertainment medium we grew up with, it was all done with pure 3D. And the more I see the work behind it, the more I respect it. It defined the progress we where at, at that given time. While it look better today in half-life, blockbuster cgi's, love, death, robots, it still does not fool the human eye.
But does it matter? Is it really that important to chase the ever moving goalpost of photorealism?
In this summer, Reallusion is releasing a new software CC5, i might invest in it on the sole point of improved facial animation techniques. It seems like they too understand that the model is as good as it is for the time being, what the users need are more streamlined way of doing facial mocap to make them talk. I'm working close with the developer and author of Face-puppet on blendermarket, and together I know we are going to make something worth while for next generation expressions in 3D. It will make my work day better for all dialogues and facial expressions. Lyfrida and Njorijanna could finally share an animated scene together.
I have also made great progress for the upcoming Lustgard Game, with the advancements in Ai coding, we are able to take great leaps in content creation for it. But more on that later.,
The addon LG Mainframe was updated and took a week to get right.
