Banana Phone

New York City Serenade- First and foremost... Thank you so very much for your fantastic reaction for more Once Upon a Time, Timothee! I absolutely love, love, love this episode!!! It's easily one of my absolute favorite episodes throughout this season! I'm so happy you really enjoyed it too! :) The second half of this season has certainly started off with a bang! However, it also brings up so many questions and lots of confusion. Just hang on, and enjoy all that's to come!! All your questions will be answered, and your confusion will be diminished as this season continues. And I will absolutely help you with this along the way! :) And now... Yay!!!! Like I've said... I absolutely love this episode!!!! It's easily another one of my favorite episodes within this season and throughout the entire show too!!! Thank you so very much for your reaction for it! I really enjoyed it. I just love every moment between Emma and Hook! :) First... I think it's hilarious that Emma handcuffs Hook's wrist again just before she has him arrested like she's done twice before. Once back in season two's episode, titled... Tallahassee, up in the giant's castle on the beanstalk when she locks his wrist in the shackle. And then again in season two's episode, titled... In the Name of the Brother, when she cuffs his wrist to his hospital bed after placing him under arrest for shooting Belle at the town line. I'm sure Hook has to be so frustrated upon being cuffed yet again in this episode too. I also think it's funny that Hook jokes with Emma about her getting a kick out of locking his wrist in cuffs back in In the Name of the Brother, when she comes to visit him in the hospital. Because Emma locks him up quite a few times. So funny. :) However, more than this... Hook is definitely worried about Emma, Henry, as well as their family back in Storybrooke too. Unfortunately, she has him arrested for assault on account of him kissing her, this time by two cops who escort him to jail. It's certainly understandable, just frustrating. Ugh! Now... I absolutely love the scene between Hook and Emma at the restaurant when Hook calls himself a dashing rapscallion and begins to try to convince Emma her family is in danger. I love seeing how desperate he is to convince her to remember him and everything about her real life throughout this episode. However, he's also very patient and gentle with her too, which I really love. And it definitely shows how far he's come along as a character who has grown too. Because Hook is certainly no longer a villain, that's for sure. :) I also really love the scene between them in the end, when Hook is trying to tell Emma what little he knows about the trouble at home while they share a drink together, just after Emma finally drinks the memory potion. You can see in Hook's eyes and from his expressions how much he cares about Emma, and how hurt he is upon listening to her talk about how he had ripped her away from the fake life that made her so happy. He's sad for her of course, and yet he's also hurt that she doesn't appear to miss her old life that was real, or him in the slightest. In spite of her having been without her memories this last year. Even though Hook has thought of her everyday like he promised Emma he would as Pan's curse fell over them in the previous episode, titled... Going Home. I love how Hook states to Emma that perhaps there's a man that she loves in the life that she can't remember, as he hopes that a part of her does love him and that she simply can't remember. Sadly, there just wasn't even a sliver or remembrance of him in Emma's mind. So sad. Also... I really love the scene outside of the police station when Hook pleads with her to trust him and drink the memory potion. Again... I love his facial expressions that show how desperate he is to remind Emma of who she is, and how desperate he is to make Emma remember him. And it's hilarious that he tells her he's been in many brigs, but never one so foul where he had been force fed bologna. Yuck!! So funny!! Definitely yet another phenomenal quip of Hook's that in my mind, equals Gold's quip to Regina about her needing his help to get a child back in a previous episode this season, titled... Save Henry. I also love that Emma bails Hook out of jail so that she can continue to question him about the pictures on Henry's camera. Pictures that reveal her and Henry being in Storybrooke... The unknown land to her where Hook claims she has been living for the last few years. Next... I love, love, love this grand introduction to the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz! Rebecca Mader is absolutely phenomenal as the Wicked Witch!! I can't wait for you to get to know her! I absolutely love, love, love The Wizard of Oz too, and I have ever since I was a little girl! And so, I am so excited for what's to come!! Especially because of the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz, and because of the new kinds of backstories yet to come within this new arc! Especially for certain characters, including Hook's!!! I was thrilled when I first heard that Once Upon a Time was bringing one of my all time favorite movies into the storyline!! Absolutely brilliant!!!! :) Also... I love seeing Robin Hood return again, as well as seeing him and Regina finally meet, given that they have been set up to supposedly be one another's True Loves thanks to Tinker Bell, as is revealed in this season's third episode, titled... Quite the Common Fairy. I love Regina's spunk towards Robin and his Merry Men. And I absolutely love Sean Maguire as Robin Hood like I've said before. I immediately loved the chemistry between Robin and Regina shown throughout this episode, as brief as it is. It's just great to see their characters come together at last!! And yes... I absolutely love that Snow most certainly recognizes something in Regina upon witnessing her first interactions with Robin Hood, just as Snow always recognizes love wherever it appears. :) Now... I absolutely love, love, love the moment between Regina and Snow when Snow convinces Regina to keep her heart in her chest where it belongs so she can one day feel true happiness, even if it is without Henry. I feel so badly for Regina, as well as Snow too. Both women are so lost without their children, and yet... Snow is being strong for Regina, and I love it. Because Snow is being strong. This doesn't mean she's not sad. Because deep down, she's heartbroken she can't be with her daughter and grandson. David too. I love seeing how Snow gives Regina the strength to keep going, and urges her to keep her heart, when Regina had always sought to rip out Snow's heart and crush it until now. This moment is so, so beautiful!! :) I also really love the scene between Hook and David, and then with Snow too, as Hook prepares to separate from them so he can find the Jolly Roger. Hook is definitely lost and sad without Emma, and at this point in the timeline... He believes he will never see her ever again. Emma brought hope and happiness back into his life again. She helped him to remember the good man inside of him that he had buried deep down inside back when his brother had been killed, before Hook ever even met Rumplestiltskin over two hundred years ago. And Emma has most certainly helped bring that good man back out. So, of course Emma means everything to him. He loves her. So, seeing him leave to find his ship, because he has no hope of ever seeing Emma again, is really heartbreaking. A part of me wishes that Charming and Snow had fought harder to convince Hook to stay with them so they can help him to move on, like Snow had done for Regina. But then if they had and Hook did stay with them, then he would have most likely become cursed along with everyone else, and he never would have made it to New York to find Emma. So, thank goodness! :) I love, love, love the scene towards the end when Hook returns to Emma's apartment as they are preparing to return to Storybrooke! I love how Hook gets defensive when Henry questions what he's wearing, to which Hook gruffly retorts, "Why are you wearing that?". Oh... And I also love when Emma asks Henry to give Hook a hand, given that he only has one... A tease towards Hook I'm sure she didn't mean to say, and yet it's quite funny too. Hilarious!! And I love that Emma pulls her red leather jacket from her closet too. Brilliant! As for Walsh... I first thought he was sweet too, up until he suddenly turns out to be one of the Wicked Witch's flying monkeys. This took me completely by surprise. I had no idea Walsh would be a flying monkey. I never suspected it. I suspected he could be shady perhaps, or even evil. But towards the end... I just thought he was a nice guy, unwittingly caught in the middle of this mess that's about to begin. But then... As soon as it is revealed he is a flying monkey, I immediately no longer felt so badly for him when Emma tells him she was returning home with Hook. What a great twist! Walsh is a character we're not meant to like or feel badly for upon discovering his true self, so I don't care that he turns out to be a bad guy working for the Wicked Witch. It doesn't bother me at all. Also... I love how Emma explains to Walsh that she has to go home, because a ghost from her past has shown up, changing everything that she believes she knew. I love how she describes Hook as a ghost, and not as some ex boyfriend, or anything else. It's a very clever way of explaining who Hook is to her. Because Hook does haunt Emma in a way, as he tries to help her to remember a past she can't remember, and by how he continuously encourages her to trust her instincts and to stop denying who she really is. So beautiful really. I also love Emma's demeanor as she talks about Hook coming back as well. You can tell she's worried about what lies ahead for her and Henry, but she talks about Hook like he's an old dear friend. And I really love this! :) Henry is also very sweet with his mother in this episode too. As he always is, but I love how much he just wants Emma to be happy. The moments between them are very touching, even when they're playing video games. And I just love how understanding Henry is in whatever choice Emma's made towards Walsh. I wish that he didn't try to push her so hard to be with Walsh, but I do understand he was only trying to help her find the life he thought would make her happy. Regarding Jared Gilmore looking more and more grown up... This went on a break for a time between the first half of this season, and the second half. However, the main reason for them writing in a one year fast forward as is revealed in this midseason finale, titled... Going Home, is because Henry's actor suddenly had a big growth spurt, and the creators and writers needed to create a reason for why he looks so much older than he did as this season started. Now... Everyone has been returned to Storybrooke with the last year of their memories wiped away due to another curse. What a great idea to have a new mystery with everyone back home in Storybrooke where they belong. Also... The Wicked Witch of the West is a new rising threat, and Mary Margaret is pregnant! Of course she's pregnant, because Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas were really about to have their first child together at this point in their lives, allowing them to be able to write Ginnifer's pregnancy into Mary Margaret's and David's storyline for the second half of this season. And it's beautiful! They were married just before they began filming season three, and became pregnant very shortly afterwards. And I love that they were able to write Ginnifer Goodwin's pregnancy into Snow's and David's story arc this second half of season three. And as for Meghan Ory who plays Red/Ruby... If you recall, we see her for a brief second in the very beginning of this episode, and then we don't see her again at all for the rest of this episode. Meghan Ory was unfortunately busy acting in another short lived TV series, which is why she's hardly been in Once Upon any longer, which is too bad. Because I really like her as Red Riding Hood. They show her briefly in this episode upon everyone returning to the Enchanted Forest, and you will see her a little more throughout this season too, but for now... This is it. I think the point of showing her for however long she is shown for in this episode, is simply to remind us that her character is still around, and currently with everyone on their trek to their castle. And lastly, in regards to the castles and who owns them... The Evil Queen lives in what used to be Snow's castle where they once lived with her father before Regina killed him and sent the Huntsman after Snow to kill her. Snow and Charming, upon getting engaged once he wakes her from her sleeping curse... moved into King George's, and later Charming's castle which they took over upon dethroning King George for his many crimes against their kingdom. This is where they are seen getting married in season one's Pilot episode. Thank you once more so much for another wonderful reaction, my dear friend! I absolutely love this episode very much, and I can't wait for your many reactions to the episodes to come!!! Season three continues to be phenomenal!! Just you wait!!! :) Sincerely, Heidi
