Gamer System in Campione - Chapter 24

Several Days Later.

A few days had passed since Ozymandias had used the [Staff of Asclepius] on Alice and the girl's improvement was visible, as she could get up from her bed.

Besides obviously the visit of the Black Prince, the Fourth Campione.

Ozymandias could tell for sure, she did not like Alexander, that was quite obvious to him, Ozymandias knew that if it were not for the presence of Alice and Goddodin it was likely that he would attack the Fourth Campione.

Ozymandias' experience with his Campiones brothers was very short actually, the only one he knew was Luo Hao, and although he got along with her it was only after they fought and stalled that they got along.

But Ozymandias knew that it wasn't time to fight the Black Prince yet, he would have many chances in the future, so he knew that the battle would certainly not be easy.

During the days he had spent in the Witenagemot organization Ozymandias had practiced a few things.

The first was learning to use magic, the Sun King was not proud of this, but he admitted that he was terrible at using magic.

Due to his [Authorities] and him basically being invulnerable to magic due to being a Campione he never saw the point in learning magic, but since he was together with Alice he had decided to learn a little.

After all he couldn't depend on his Authorities always, and having one of the most powerful witches in the world as a teacher was really something interesting.

Another thing Ozymandias had made clear was that he was not an ally of the Witenagemot, he might have helped them, but he did not ally himself with them.

The Sun King knew that the organization was doing everything to get him to ally with them, but the Sun King liked his freedom so he wasn't too keen.

In fact, Ozymandias had only stayed in the Witenagemot because Alice needed him around due to his [Authority] healing her.

And that brought Ozymandias to the current moment where he was training his fencing.

The sound of blades sounding as they clashed with each other echoed across the practice field as the Sun King blocked the attacks of the Grand Knight in front of him, a man in his thirties who wielded a foil with an eagle stamped on his shield.

Witenagemot had a vast amount of resources, and the practice field filled with archery targets, a vast amount of land with guards placed in circles for knights wishing to duel, and buildings dedicated to the Grand Knights and Knights were nearby for refreshments and lodging.

And Ozymandias was using one of the fenced practice fields to duel with a Grand Knight to practice his sword skills.

Around them, knights, magic researchers and other Witenagemot officials were watching the fight with interest, keeping a respectable distance from the fight.

"Sir Ozymandias! Are you using a fencing style today too?" The Grand Knight called out with a smile on his face. His name was Sir Garret, a man of medium height and slender body who hid the fierce strength and speed that lay behind each of his strokes with his foil. In addition to his attack speed, he also hid small rotations of his blade as he tried to stab Ozymandias, causing the foil to come from various angles instead of being limited to only straight strokes.

Undeterred, the Sun King raised a simple sword that he was using to block the potentially fatal stabs to humans.

"Speechless as always during a fight, eh?" The Knight laughed even though his attacks were not succeeding, knowing that the Campione in front of him could block all his attacks using his sword style, "We're not going anywhere with this, you know, your sword skill-." He said cheerfully in a fake bored voice.

Ozymandias launched himself at him while he was in the middle of speaking.

Launching itself at him Ozymandias' sword swung cutting the air as it advanced towards the Great Knight who was desperately trying to stop the attack by throwing several blows.

Deflecting in ways that would normally be impossible, Ozymandias let the blows pass through him as his sword moved forward to slash the head of the Grand Knight who widened his eyes.

"I surrender!" shouted the man with his eyes closed as he fell to the ground.

Before it hit the man's head the sword suddenly stopped.

The fight lasted less than thirty seconds.

Raising his hand Ozymandias helped the Grand Knight to his feet.

"V-you don't have any more problems with your sword style, right?" He said a little breathlessly as the two walked to the edge of the circular field, the barrier coming down around them as they had finished their duel.

"No, thanks to your teaching and dueling, I was able to smooth the edges of my skill" Ozymandias replied with a smile, quickly supporting him.

The man's foil flew into his hands as they walked, the sword being sheathed in the scabbard by his waist.

"I still don't understand why you would need a lesson from me" He grumbled, clearly annoyed at his loss in the duel, "I mean, you're a Campione, so you should be able to beat me to a pulp with a twist of your little finger if you use your authorities ..."

Sighing in his mind Ozymandias monotonously replied the same answer he gave him whenever he beat him in a duel, "Because, Sir Garret, I don't want to rely on my Authority as the only bastion of my power. If my Authorities are not enough against a specific god, then I want my other abilities to make up the gap and let me defeat the god."

The Grand Knight was a good man, but he tended to be overly competitive and didn't like losing, even to the Sun King, a Campione, since he didn't use any Authority.

That's when Alice appeared in the crowd.

"Ozymandias!" She shouted as she came running, wearing jeans, a white blouse, and a straw hat instead of a dress.

Apparently, even though she was a lady, she refused to wear a dress all the time, saying something like, 'What are you talking about? Wearing a dress all the time as if I were 1800? In this heat? Never!' This response apparently made Goddodin cry for some reason, muttering something about his dear Alice entering a rebellious stage, but since no one could understand the eccentric father's mind, they simply ignored him.

"Alice?" Ozymandias asked.

"I was able to use [Divine Vision] to see that a Heretic God will appear!" She said hurriedly, causing everyone around her to quiet down.

Ozymandias' eyes sharpened and he began to walk faster toward her, leaving behind the now silent Grand Knight at his side.

"Where, when?"

"I have been able to determine that he will appear in three days in the Republic of Macedonia!" She said, turning and walking with Ozymandias toward the car that was parked on the road that intersected with the field.

"Hi, kid! Good luck!" The Grand Knight called out from behind, and the Sun King turned and gave him a smile before turning toward the car with a steely expression on his face once again.

Alice continued to talk as they got into the car.
