Strongest in DxD - Chapter 5

This had been at Rias's request and Sona had no problem meeting them.

"So Sona…" began Rias.

"If it's about Ren Katsuo, forget it," Sona said firmly making Rias' eyes widen.

"But Sona, you know my situation," said Rias trying to convince her friend to let her stay with Ren.

"Exactly and that's why I let you keep Hyoudou who probably has a strong Sacred Gear, but Ren Katsuo is mine" said Sona being adamant.

"But Sona, you can find someone better," Rias said trying to convince his rival.

"That's impossible," Sona said with a snort.

"It's not," said Rias, trying to argue.

Sona snorted before adjusting her glasses and starting to speak.

"It's impossible to find anyone better. Ren Katsuo has a strong magical aura, when he is reincarnated his magic power would probably be on the same level as mine and yours, plus he's an excellent student and I can use that in the student council , besides he is an excellent swordsman, as he was able to beat Kiba, with training he could become one of the best [Knight] in the Underworld," Sona said analytically.

Since Ren entered the school he has been monitored by demons who have become increasingly surprised at his performance and potential.

He's just a normal human and was able to beat Kiba in a sword duel.

Ren had caught the attention of many clubs in the school and one of them was the Kendo club where Ren was challenged by Kiba and defeated him.

Kiba was holding back but still wielding a power greater than a normal human and yet Ren beat him simply because he wielded a sword better than Kiba.

"And to top it off he sure has a Longinus class Sacred Gear, tell me where I can find someone like that?" asked Sona being rhetorical.

Rias bit his lip because he knew this was true.

Ren had a huge talent for a commoner, had a great magical potential and was a great swordsman even being a human and to close he still had a Sacred Gear of the Longinus class, he was a rare gem among humans.

A gem that could give her freedom in her arranged marriage to Riser.

"Sona please, this might be the only chance to get rid of Riser, please for our friendship" said Rias as tears seemed to come out of his eyes.

Sona winced a little as her friend seemed to be using emotional blackmail.

Sona sighed at that.

"Okay Rias, you can have him," Sona said with a sigh.

The tears in Rias' eyes instantly disappeared as a smile spread across his face.

"Thank you so much Sona," Rias said happily.

"But don't forget, if you don't make it I'll keep it," Sona said and Rias shivered a little.

"Don't worry Sona, I'll get him" said Rias smiling arrogantly because for her it was already won.

Sona sighed at her friend's speech.

"And how are you going to do that?" Sona asked curiously.

"I'll invite you to my club," Rias said smiling.

Sona sighed a little although Rias' plan was better than what she had for Issei Hyoudou which was to let the boy die.

Even so, Sona had a feeling that something was going to go terribly wrong.

With Ren Katsuo.

It had been several days since Ren moved to Kuoh and was starting his plans.

The days were very monotonous as he usually went to school and returned home, Ren had also participated during a time in the Kendo club where he fought and defeated Kiba in a sword duel.

Ren's routine was the same as always, he woke up at dawn and did a ten kilometer walk which was fast for him and did several push-ups and other exercises to keep himself in shape.

Ren was currently sitting on the floor of his living room with his legs crossed and a gun in front of him.

It was a spear ornamented with a dark blue shaft and is longer than normal spears. It features gilded metal decorations in the shape of arrowheads that spiral in a double helix pattern. The decorations end at the top of the spear's shaft, which features a white circle, which is completely empty, and has a cross that fills it, but not completely. There is a small silver stump that has four protrusions, two on the left and the other two on the right. The boom tip is silver and similar to the boom shaft is longer than other types of booms.

This was [True Longinus] the first and strongest of the 13 Longinus and the one who named all the others.

Ren had a small sacred aura around him as well as his spear as he meditated.

Meditating was something Ren always did as it helped him to focus and also train his mastery of his magical power, which although perfect, Ren always tried to improve.

Part of this is due to Ren always training with his Sacred Gear [True Longinus] due to it being a subspecies.

Subspecies were extremely rare forms of Sacred Gears that deviated from their normal forms.

They occurred when the possessor's mindset is so radically different from the norm that the normal form doesn't suit them.

Because Sacred Gears responded to their possessors, they would then change into a form that suited the possessor. That was what a subspecies was.

Normally, they only occurred in Sacred Gear's Balance Breakers. For example, the normal Balance Breaker of Boosted Gear and Divine Dividing was the Scale Mail, which is what most of its possessors would get when they reach Balance Breaker.

However, if the possessor's mentality were radically different from the average Sekiryuutei and Hakuryuukou, the Balance Breaker would change to suit them.

And, unlike normal Balance Breakers that have a definite name, the names of Subspecies were up to the possessors to decide. The Sacred Gear would provide a name, but it was more of a suggestion than an invariant like a normal Balance Breaker.

But, as different as Balance Breakers were, their basic forms almost always remained the same.

However, there have been even rarer cases where the Sacred Gear's base form was already in a Subspecies state, which would likely result in a Subspecies Balance Break.

And that's what Ren's [True Longinus] was.

Ren had not only developed a subspecies Balance Breaker, totally different from Cao Cao, Ren made the Holy Lance's own basic form transform into a subspecies by gaining powers and abilities it didn't normally have.

This is because the Sacred Gear are receptacles that absorb their host's desires and use them to strengthen themselves.

Ren had also developed his Balance Breaker Abyss Side a unique form of Balance Breaker that is only possible when the user completely masters his Sacred Gear and pushes it to the limit and makes it evolve.

Rem also trained with the [True Idea] which was the forbidden form of the Holy Lance similar to the Juggernaut Drive of the Celestial Dragons where Ren could access the dying will of the Bible God that resided in the Holy Lance.

Ren sighed as he opened his eyes and a small wave of holy energy surged through before the Holy Lance disappeared from his lap.

"Woof! Woof!"
