Stefan is always lying, of the 2 brothers, Damon is the honest and trustworthy one! Stefan spends so much time pretending he is and has always been perfect and convincing everyone that Damon is an outlier, a heartless evil monster who kills for no reason because he is bad, yet slowly over time we are learning that is not true! Vampires are a predatory species who enjoy the hunt almost as much as the kill as Stefan just said. They have an urge to kill and they need to feed on blood to survive (Stefan manages to choke down animal blood but we have seen that it is not only inferior when it comes to keeping them strong and powerful, but it doesn't taste the same). In the last episode you made a comment that with Damon gone there would be no more problems, even though we learned in that same episode that there were other vampires in Mystic Falls who were also trying to open the tomb full of vampires. Also, the so called "good guys" are always quick to use Damon when it comes to protecting Elena...
