Another thing, I think it's really cool to see you reacting to old movies. So to keep the momentum going, I recommend Charles Laughton's Night of the Hunter (1955). The film is truly frightening for its time, not least thanks to Robert Mitchum's incredible performance.

You should totally watch The Wiz! (1978) A really cool adaptation of this story for the 70's. Speaking of Michael Jackson, he's in that one too!

Loved your reaction to this! Even though I'm a 2000s kid, I grew up with The Wizard Of Oz! I watched it so many times as a little kid! It never gets boring!
Wicked Part 1 (Film that released Nov 2024) is a prequel to The Wizard Of Oz and its about how The Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) became The Wicked Witch of the West and how she came to know The Good Witch of the North (Galinda/Glinda).
Wicked Part 2 that releases next year is still about Elphaba & Glinda but the events of it take place during The Wizard Of Oz!
I can't wait for you to react to Wicked Part 1!!

(haven't watched the reaction yet so I'm judging from the thumbnail) Finally!! Someone else cries during this movie too! I'm the only one I know of lol The scene where she's in front of the wicked witch's crystal ball crying and seeing auntie Em always gets to me! Judy Garland really made me feel the emotion in that scene and I felt it so deep in my soul 😭😭

Yes, which is why I specified that Wizard was his oldest live action. Snow White is his oldest, period.

I think the oldest film you've covered is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).

When tin man was leaning you were talking about Michael doing it then you said he was using strings. I hope you don’t think Michael was using strings.

There are other Oz movies to check out besides Wicked. The story is different in each one

I almost forgot what this movie sounds like. I've seen it hooked up to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon so many times xD
Some fun facts:
1. The snow in the flower field scene was a mixture of Asbestos
2. The chant used by the flying monkeys as they march back into the castle (Oooohh-oh! Oh ee oh!) was used in the Metallica song "Frayed Ends of Sanity".
3. The lion costume was made from real lion pelts, and weighed 60lbs. His tail moved due to fishing string and someone controlling it on the catwalk above the stage.
4. Despite being an impressive feat of filmmaking for the time, it lost the 1940 Best Picture Oscar to Gone With the Wind. Honestly, it's a damn close toss-up.
5. When conservative former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher died in 2013, "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" reached #2 on the billboard hot 100

I believe this is the oldest live action film you've seen, coming out in 1939. (Snow White came out 2 years prior)
