A Year in Review

MINOR SPOILERS FOR MANA MIRROR AHEAD

It may be 2024 where you are, or, if you're like me, it's fast approaching. Either way, happy new year or soon to be new year, to all of you! 

2023 has been an interesting year for me, in that my life has radically changed on multiple levels. I won't dive into the personal stuff, but pretty much every aspect of my life either is different, or is about to be different for me. Work, relationships, family, heck, even the laptop I write on broke four times in one year... It's all changing. 

2023 also did not go the way I expected. I started up Mana Mirror in December of 2022, and it was just a fun, casual thing to do in the background... 

At first. 

By the middle of the year, Mana Mirror had grown to equal the size of my 'main' series, The Journals of Evan Tailor, growing way further than I'd ever expected. In some ways, this has been absolutely amazing! I'm thankful to each and every one of you for your support. It's allowed me to go from working three jobs down to only two, which is staggering. 

The downside of this, however, is in The Abjurer, book three of the Journals of Evan Tailor. I'd hoped to have it out by now, and instead I find myself a little over halfway done. That's part of why I've begun posting chapters on here - it lights a fire under me to keep pushing, which is something I need. 

It wasn't just Mana Mirror, of course. Even when I budgeted time for The Abjurer, I found myself barely adding to it. My life and mental health has shifted so dramatically from when I wrote books one and two that it's hard to get back into that mindset, which is a curse and a blessing. 

I've learned a lot and grown a lot this year, and I'm eternally grateful to each and every one of you for that. 

So... What can you look forwards to in 2024? 

Well. 

I'm going to get The Abjurer out. 

On patreon, I'll be continuing work Mana Mirror, and posting chapters for The Abjurer, as well as for the final book of the Journals of Evan Tailor. 

Mana Mirror: The First Gate will come out, likely before The Abjurer. 

Mana Mirror: The Second Gate will release as well, likely after the Abjurer. 

I'll be working on the third book of Mana Mirror once book two wraps up. I'm actually kind of at a loss for what to call it, haha. Odds are, it won't be The Third Gate, since there's still a lot of content to work through before Malachi's ready for his ascension. I'm thinking maybe Mana Mirror: The Twin Trials, since it will have the Idyll-Flume and Beastgate trials. But I'm not settled on anything just yet. 

All in all, there will be a pretty packed year. I'm looking forward to it, and I hope you are too!
