So, it's time for a long overdue update post for my patrons. This is gonna be a long post, so bear with me!
First and foremost, I wanna let you all know that The Diviner's first draft is completely finished! It's out with beta readers, and then it'll be headed to the editors shortly thereafter. Ideally, this means that it should be published by November/December, though of course random delays can always happen. (There are fair odds the typography may cause a short delay, for example)
So, what can you all look forwards to in the future? Well, in the short term, not much is going to change. I'll continue to post chapters for you all every week. But after book two is fully released, things will change around here.
I'm going to be doing an experiment, trying out something new. I'm going to continue to work on book three of Evan's story (which currently has the working title of The Abjurer), but I won't be posting it on patreon.
Instead, I'm going to be posting a new story, set in a completely new world, and at various patron levels you'll be able to read the story (Duh), monthly update posts about how all my projects (Including The Abjurer) are going, vote on aspects of the story, or even name a character/spell/item in the story.
Voting will begin at the 5$ tier, and it's something I'm super excited about! Voting will cover the quests that Malachi goes on, some of the spells that he learns, items he picks up, all that sort of stuff. If you're familiar with Forge of Destiny's run on SufficientVelocity, this would be somewhat similar. Sort of in between that and Weirkey Chronicles.
Now, if this totally flops, I'll switch back to posting chapters of The Abjurer on patreon, but I really hope it doesn't flop. I have a LOT of stories to tell on Cré. Evan's story is going to be 4-5 books long, and I've got a series set in Elderglass and a series exploring the far, far south side of the continent in the works. All in all, spanning three series, main characters, and an entire continent's worth of magic, Cré has a lot of stories to tell.
Thus, having a fresh, semi-collaborative story set in a different world will help me prevent burnout, and keep Cré interesting and full of magic for years to come.
But there's one thing missing from this update post. What is Mana Mirror actually about?
So, without further ado, here is the blurb for Mana Mirror:
On Ddeaer, everyone possesses a legacy, an inborn magical ability that can range from the incredible to the useless, from tripling the size of a caster’s mana-garden, to being seen as a friend by bees. When Malachi’s coming of age reveals him to have a moderately useful ability, he expects to settle down with a normal job, and live a normal life.
When he instead receives an offer of apprenticeship from the esteemed Occultist Orykson, he jumps at the chance to learn.
His elation quickly turns into dread when it becomes apparent that Orykson doesn’t seem to have much interest in teaching him until he’s already reached the highest level of mastery with several spells and advanced his mana-garden to the level of a Spellbinder – a feat that takes most people at least three years to manage… and which Orykson expects him to do in just one.
Left with a handful of spells, instruction from an old woman he’s never met, and a sharply tailored suit, Malachi has to navigate his way to excellence or risk failing to meet Orykson’s expectations, a fate that will leave him in financial ruin for years to come.
