SARS-Fansubs Revitalization Project Announcement!
Added 2022-06-16 23:45:10 +0000 UTCAs the years have gone by, we've seen an increase of re-releases of RAWs that are in better quality. For older series, this is great because we can re-release softsubs along with high quality RAWs.
Just a note though, some of these higher quality RAWs may not be too much different from our original hardsubbed releases. Many of our projects used HD RAWs or DVD RAWs as a source.
Here's a screencap of IWGP from the original DVD (not encoded):
Now here is a screencap from SARS-Fansubs using the same DVD above as a source, but re-encoded:
Finally, here's a WEB-DL version that's been upscaled from possibly the DVD source:
As you can see, between the three different versions, the quality is negligible at best.
At any rate, we'll be "revitalizing" our old projects and will provide the below:
- Font pack, karaoke (if any), original typesetted subtitles in .ass
- Stripped subtitles with basic styling in .ass format
- Higher quality version of the RAWs
- Original SARS-Fansubs hardsubbed releases (for nostalgic reasons)
Our first two projects:
- Hitotsu Yane no Shita Season 1 (Bluray)
- IWGP (Series + SP) Paravi WEB-DL
I know many of you still want the original SARS-Fansubs files, so that's why I've included it as well :)
Without further ado, here's the original SARS-Fansubs release of IWGP, the series plus the SP.

Is the version you have a web-dl version from NSBC? If so, I have that version too! I'll add this to the list and will work on it when I have time. Maybe later in the year we can revisit and decide to all watch it as a part of the podcast. Having a guest would be fun too! I'll discuss with our hosts. :)

It was the first j-drama I watched in 2005 and it turned me into a j-drama-otaku. I would also be onboard for a podcast episode about kmsd, because I started working as a social worker for an NGO that offers help and counseling for people who are living with HIV/Aids and since I still work there today I might be able to add something to a podcast episode. I could also check the subs for HIV related medical stuff π
