If you are interested in the Calamity, there is a 4part mini-campaign covering the start of it on the Critical Role youtube channel. The episodes are long, but it's an incredible story, with Brennan Lee Mulligan as the DM and some regular Critical Role cast members and a few guests as the players. Wether you check that out on your own time or do it as a reaction series, I highly recommend it. :)

In the campaign, Vax had a magical item called boots of haste that allwoed him either extra movement or an extra action per turn in combat (1 turn = 6 seconds). Because the Deathwalker's Ward mostly had (really good) defensive properties that are hard to show in a visual medium they baked the haste into the vestige instead, so now he's a very speedy boy. :)
