What a great episode to start with 😂 This was so fun seeing some of the characters really get into it (Annie, Shirley, Abed lol) and the writing for this one was hilarious and thats so cool about the real version. The fact the go the extra mile with this show makes me want to support it even more!

I love how the characters act in the game, particularly Abed, Shirley and Britta. Abed definitely feels right at home as he effortlessly uses the game to his advantage. Shirley suddenly getting into the violence of the game is hilarious, as she takes Annie’s comment of not getting worked up about the violence a little too seriously. Her ruthlessness from her foosball days were definitely showing. As for Britta, her comment of “not hacking and slashing her way through life because she’s one with life” is honestly perfect and might just be my favorite quote from the entire show. Also another fun fact: they made a real version of this game called Journey to the Center of Hawkthorne where after completing the game seen in the episode you can explore an 8-bit Greendale and meet all the characters throughout the show like the annoying teenagers, the bully from the Christmas episode, the crazy pottery teacher who gets angry at the mention of the movie Ghost and so many more characters. You can also play as all of the other recurring characters like Chang, Magnitude, the Dean, etc. They all come with the different costumes they wore throughout the show like in the Halloween, flashback and Christmas episodes. Speaking of which, you can even play a bonus level of Abed’s winter wonderland from the season 2 Christmas episode. Its honestly so much fun.
