Iβm not super picky about lighting so I just have the room lighting, some extra fairy lights and the light from the windows, but all of this is a giant leap from doing my makeup in bed with a palette

I have a similar setup where most of the natural light is behind me and with a giant mirror there isn't really a good way to get it in front of me. I've been looking at some of those vanity light bulbs that you put all the way around your mirror, but I don't know how good they are. Not to mention it would be nice to change the lighting from warm to cool, but stuff like that tends to be EXPENSIVE.
