Foundry Required and Suggested Modules
Added 2023-02-20 02:59:56 +0000 UTCHi guys,
Thought it might be useful to let you know what modules I use when building and using my scenes in Foundry.
Some are Required Modules and listed as dependencies in the module json and you will be prompted to install these when installing the RuinWorks Premium Scenes module. Others are not strictly necessary, but offer some quality of life/ease of use benefits. I list these as Suggested Modules.
Required Modules:
1. Levels/Betterroofs - These modules are both created by theripper. They allow for multiple levels on a single scene. Tiles, drawings and lights will be provided new "elevation" fields in their configuration menus.
2. Wall Height - also by theripper. This module allows elevation to be added to walls and helps to dictate line of sight and movement when using Levels. It adds an elevation field to walls.
3. Monk's Active Tile Triggers - this module allows actions and triggers to be set to tiles. These form the back bone of all the interactive elements I use in my maps (interaction points, customization buttons, and moving elements). There is a large range of options using this module. An extra tab is added to the tile configuration call Triggers. In this tab you can define how a tile is triggered, what happens when triggered and also add multiple images to a single tile.
4. Token Attacher - I use this to attach elements to tokens, so that those elements can all move at once. For example, it allows me to attach walls, tiles and lights to a token. Then this token can be moved - allowing rotating rooms or moving secret passages.
5. Library Scene Packer - I use this to pack my scenes to ensure that journal notes and tile references are linked properly for my scenes when imported into another world. On your end it is also used to unpack scenes so that all information is linked properly.
6. Libwrapper - this is a dependency as other modules are dependent on it. I don't actively use it.
7. Multi-face Tiles - I don't use this module as much anymore since I started using Monk's active tiles to switch images. On scenes where it is used, you can quickly switch the image of the tile by right clicking the tile and selecting from the menu at the top of the tile.
8. Tagger - this adds a blank field to all foundry canvas elements (lights, walls, tiles, tokens etc), in their respective config menus. In this field you can enter a tag, which is used to identify that element. Then it can be easily referenced by Monk's Active Tiles. Each element is provided a random identifier by Foundry, meaning normally you'd have to select each element individually if you want something to affect them all. If they all share the same tag, you can just reference the tag instead.
Suggested Modules:
1. Monk's Token Bar: This module adds a token bar to the screen. In addition to other features, when a token on the bar is clicked, it takes you to that token. This makes it easy to find tokens on a scene with multiple levels.
2. Compendium Folders: This allows easier organization of compendiums. While not strictly necessary, my module compendiums won't be organized without this module.
3. Token Magic FX: I use some of the macros from this module to add a bit of flare to my scenes. I suggest importing the following macros from the Token Magic FX macro compendium.
a. 05 - Glow - used for some magic effects
b. 07 - Distortion - used on water tiles to have them move slightly
As long as these are imported into your game world, they should automatically be used in my scenes.
Comments
As of right now, my modules are not updated to v13. It'll probably be a month or so before I update
