The Water Cooler: January 2024

I love how you guys enjoy hanging out here, in this Water Cooler corner!

Thanks to MC for the suggestion, CICUKate for seconding the suggestion, and thanks to j3ffc, for the inspiration behind the Water Cooler moniker. 😁

Basically, the Water Cooler is where we can post random things that we'd like to share with everyone here.

So, we'd use the Deep dive for spoilers, Spoiler-free zone for non-spoilery drama chats, and the Water Cooler, for everything else. Like your favorite takeaway Korean fried chicken, or a link to a photo of the amazing cookies that you baked. 😁

Please enjoy.

KFG ❤️

@Elaine - Commenting from your last post in January. Way behind :) Ohhhh, thank you for letting me know about the book! My nieces are in a book club with their cousin every month, so I am going to suggest this one to them. They love Fantasy and Sci Fi not that this book is that, but lets see if I can get them hooked on Kdramas this way :) And *SQUEAL* about your shout out for BONES!!!! What a GREAT show for so many years!!! Loved it and watched many episodes many times :)

@CICUKate - This was awesome!!! Thanks for sharing.

Some months after Jennifer first linked her Instagram here on Patreon https://www.instagram.com/junehwrites/ I have read June Hur’s The Red Palace! June Hur is a Korean-Canadian author who writes historical fiction that is inspired both by her study of history and literature, but also K drama hahaha. They are pegged in the Young Adult category but that need not stop you, I found the plot to be very engaging and twisty, and I ended up staying up till 1am last night to finish it, oops! It’s quite a brisk read, I would say maybe a 6 episode miniseries rather than a 16 episode epic. I will say I had to combat some cognitive dissonance cos I was trying to hold in my mind’s eye a Joseon Korea setting and cast (see reply for who I imagined for the main roles) yet the lines the characters were speaking were in English, so I was imagining them speaking in English and going “No that’s not right” then re-imagining the scene with them speaking in Korean and I’m “reading the subtitles” in English lol. Fair warning, it is a murder mystery and goes into detail about the wounds and such in a forensic way, probably nothing new to you if you’ve read your share of murder mysteries, or watched series like CSI or Bones. A good read! I would recommend it. The e-book is only USD2.99 on iBooks (or Apple Books? I read it on my ipad) and USD3.26 on Kindle. https://www.amazon.com/Red-Palace-June-Hur-ebook/dp/B08WL1W911/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
