Comics Update from Ready (concerning old plotlines and superheroes!)
Added 2025-03-22 07:50:27 +0000 UTCHey all, this is an update about the comics and the state of the union with them overall. To be clear – I am talking mainly about comics and their storylines!!!!
Had a message from a LONG-time friend and fan who asked about perhaps getting updates or redo's of some of the older comics. First off, it’s incredibly flattering and humbling people like my stuff in general much less want me to revisit it. Thank you ALL so much for that.
The main question was my proclivity to revisiting the older stuff to bring some of those older pages up to current art standards (and perhaps even expand them). Let’s start at the beginning – this is ALL POSSIBLE.
I mentioned in my reply I prefer to choose ideas that dovetail with my actual plans. That said, sometimes a suggestion can generate some new ideas I really am interested in. In this case, the idea was about superheroes from comics showing up again in the Growth Lab Universe.
Now if you know me, I started with superhero stuff. This would be way, way back when. I love doing it. I'm always interested in bringing to the forefront, one of the reasons I even started the Growth Lab universe was to create my own superhero stuff. I know it's sort of has drifted away from direct superhero stuff, people flying around with capes and armor and magical powers. That doesn't mean I've forgotten about it or I don't want to do it.
What I'm thinking of is perhaps stories involving Growth Lab centered superheroes. On the surface they would seem familiar to comic readers. I know there are certain archetypes people and I enjoy. Vivian is a good example from the Growth Lab but echoes a familiar character.
One thing I'm curious about is doing recognizable superheroes versus creating my own. Personally, I know the recognizable ones get way more attention. That's obvious, that's understandable as well. I prefer making my own versions of characters because it allows me to do whatever I want to do and not have to worry about any history of the character except the one I give it.
What I'm going to do is think a little bit about the suggestion. They sparked interesting ideas. Though I can't promise I'm going to go ahead and deliver this massive superhero comic anyone here may or may not want. I will look into it and I see about incorporating more of the superhero stuff into the comics. The Growth Lab universe is already a superhero place for all intent and purposes. It's a high-tech society clearly, even though they can't seem to control the growth for whatever reason. Haha
Part of the question too was commissioning me directly to work on these comics. THAT is an amazing offer and I can't tell you how nice it was to get it. At the moment the member stuff (and the animation work) is top of my list. Though I am not doing commissions at the moment I will notify everyone if things open up. Really though, the movies are a prime focus (and rightly so). But you know - I LOVE DRAWING COMICS! hahah
I do sincerely appreciate feedback from any of you. I know a lot of you might be old time fans of my comics or older movies and you subscribed because you're hoping for more. My promise to you is I will do my best to get you that. The caveat is I tend to work on stuff I love because that's the thing which keeps me going through the night. Many of you already know, I work on this stuff basically 24/7. I love it! I love doing art and sharing it with you. Most of all I appreciate your support in any form, paid or not.
Thank you and stay awesome! Comments and suggestions welcome!
