@yasmine so good to see your thoughts! I wonder if you have watched all 10 episodes by now? I feel it’s as close an adaptation of the source material as one can manage while changing cultures and time period 😆 I loved it so far and am curious to see how the second half will play out. The FL role is a very tough one and I have to say, I quite like how the actress handles the challenge. I don’t know anything about online criticism, I never pay attention to chatter tbh. To me the actress manages to make the FL a relatable character, a woman who breaks rules and ignores conventions when the circumstances demand it. Much like in gwtw that contrast is even more brought into focus by comparing her to such utterly useless characters as the „Ashley“ equivalent here. No backbone, no grit, just big empty words and a lot of misplaced pride. We‘ll only have to wait 2 weeks for the second half 🤩

2023-09-30 17:44:57 +0000 UTCI thought I had seen some people comment on My Dearest but I can’t seem to find it. May not have scrolled back far enough. I am 7 episodes in and am enjoying this quite a bit. ML is fabulous as jaded „seen it all“ worldly man, quick with a joke or smirk and completely smitten with feisty FL, who holds her own quite nicely imo. This all happens with a backdrop of an invasion by the mongols, and so far is an exact copy of Gone With The Wind. You know, minus all the racism and white washing of history of the American Civil war 😂 Whoever is familiar with GWTW knows it’s a frustrating tale of mis- and non-communicated feelings between two people who truly love each other. I am in for the long haul but understand this isn’t for everyone. I peeked 🫣 that the second set of episodes are due to be released in October so at least I won’t have to wait too long. Let’s hope for a good ending 🤞🏼
