Promising drama alert: Shining For One Thing [China]

This Chinese web drama dropped all 24 episodes on 26 Jan 2022, and has received a lot of positive feedback from viewers.

It's a do-over sort of story, with our female lead Lin Beixing (Karlina Zhang) time-traveling back to high school, after her long-time boyfriend dumps her just before their wedding. With her life and career in a mess, this revisit to her teen years promises to be Beixing's chance to make a new and better future for herself - the first order of which, is to NOT get involved with said ex-boyfriend. Heh.

I hadn't realized, until looking her up, that Karlina Zhang was in both The Bond (as Weimin's wife) and The Story of Minglan (as Rulan). Wow. No wonder she looked so familiar! D'oh! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have a pretty big soft spot for do-over stories (see 18 Again, Familiar Wife, Go Back Couple), and I'm digging the tone and vibe of the trailer as well, so this one's definitely going on my list.

The downside is, this show only looks to be available on iQIYI at the moment, and only the first 10 episodes are free to view. The rest are available only to VIP members.

Typically, iQIYI does eventually make all episodes of a show available to non-VIP members, so perhaps a bit of patience is all we need?
