Early Access Extras: Hellbound E1
Added 2021-12-18 07:20:17 +0000 UTCE1. Well, that was.. bizarre and confusing and bemusing and perplexing, all at the same time. 😅
I have no idea where Show is going with this.
And based on what we've been shown, I have so many questions floating around in my head. Like, if the executors have been doing their thing for at least the last 10 years, why is it only coming to the attention of the general public now? I mean, the way they kill the hell-bound person is so graphic and violent, surely people would have noticed before now? Especially since there appears to be a great deal of collateral damage that goes with each execution?
From what we're shown, the actual execution is real; ie, these creatures actually appear in our drama world and execute these people. And, there really is a prophecy that's given to these people, so that they know exactly when their execution will take place.
The question is, whether Jung Jin Soo's explanation of these events is actually accurate. In essence, he's saying that he spent 10 years traveling the world, and has now come to somewhat understand what God is doing, through these events. However, Show is not confirming nor denying Jung Jin Soo's interpretation, so far. It's entirely possible that whatever is happening is supernatural, but Jung Jin Soo's interpretation of it could be completely off.
Also, there's the question of whether he truly believes what he's telling people, about these prophecies and judgments. I'm curious to know what he thinks.
Ah, I also am curious to know what this thing about being more righteous looks like. That's the closest thing to an answer that we get, in terms of how people can redeem themselves. Like, look, if you don't become more righteous, this is what's going to happen to you. But.. that's all that they're being told, so far? Or at least, that's all that we're being told so far. That this is all to remind humanity of shame, remorse, repentance, and redemption, which humanity has forgotten about.
But how do we actually repent and receive redemption, after witnessing these "demonstrations," is what I'd like to know. This thing about being more righteous is too vague, I feel.
There's also the idea introduced, that the justice system is failing, which reminds me of rogue justice dramas like The Devil Judge and Taxi Driver, except, in this case, it's not rogue justice that steps in, but divine justice. Is this the idea that Show is serving up, or am I mangling it, I wonder? Because if it's an idea that Show is serving up, then is Show saying that if humanity had done a better job of executing justice on sinners, that we wouldn't have these executors running these demonstrations..?
A rather familiar idea here, is that of the radicals, who misrepresent the mainstream religion. In this drama world, it's the Arrowhead, who are radicals misrepresenting the New Truth. I wonder how much of this is true. Also, if the New Truth works out to be a cult, isn't it rather ironic, that a cult would have a radical branch, since cults are inherently radical?
There's also a rather interesting idea, of what would you do, if you knew the world as you knew it, was coming to an end? Those radical students from Arrowhead choose to attack that lecturer, believing that there won't be time for them to be dealt with by the law.
This brand of rogue justice reminds me a great deal of what The Devil Judge served up, and it begs the question of where these religious fanatics see themselves, in the grand scheme of things. If divine judgment is God's to serve, then in doing this, aren't they undermining God's authority..?
I'm curious to know more about the lady who receives the prophecy at the end of the episode. From what we see of her, she appears to be a regular person, who's working to take care of her family. What has she done, that would warrant her receiving a death prophecy like this?
Also, that request by Jung Jin Soo, to broadcast her going to hell, is so bizarre. He seems to have no sympathy for the person who's received the death prophecy, and instead, is all about how he can best utilize this, to further his message.
And, why is the lady even deferring to him? He's not offering to help her in any way, and she doesn't get anything out of this, except perhaps a weird sense of company..?
Plus, I find it curious, that once the prophecy is delivered, there is no opportunity given for the people involved, to actually seek redemption. I thought the whole idea of the demonstration was redemption..?
So far, I have more questions than anything. I sure hope Show intends to serve up some answers - at some point! 😅
This show will be covered as a bonus show for the Ultimate Tier.
