Poll: Thinking of dropping Doom At Your Service
Added 2021-07-07 06:10:33 +0000 UTCHi my dear patrons,
First, a heads-up that today's Early Access post for Doom At Your Service will be a little late, because, well, I'm still watching the episode. 😅 It might be a mood thing; this episode (E10) feels more of a drag than usual.
..Which is why I'm making this post. I'm undecided as to whether to keep on keeping on with Doom, or whether to bite the bullet, drop it, and replace it with something new. After all, You Are My Spring and The Devil Judge have just started airing, and are suddenly possible contenders.
The thing is, it's early days yet for both shows, and nobody knows how it's going to unfold from here. The first 2 eps of You Are My Spring premiered to mixed reactions. Most people say they'll tune in some more, for the leads, but aren't too hot on the mix of romance, murder and sociopath that Show's serving up so far. On the other hand, the response to The Devil Judge's first 2 eps have been more uniformly positive, but.. we also know what happened with our last dystopian-themed kdrama Sisyphus, which started out strong too, but ultimately disappointed most viewers.
Because of these factors, I'm pretty neutral right now, in that I could go with any of the 3 options I've listed in this poll. Let me know what you'd prefer, and let's decide on a next step together? 😅
UPDATE: Thanks to those of you who managed to vote, I've decided to drop Doom, and go with The Devil Judge as a replacement show. The Dropped post will go up pretty soon on the blog, and so will the E1 notes for The Devil Judge, here on Patreon.
That's not to say that You Are My Spring won't get covered here on Patreon. I will still consider it for the pool of shows for August!

Not gonna lie, my reaction to the final Myul Mang-Deity Girl dialogue was "oh, so it's really a Pinocchio story we're watching!" (i.e. he wanted to be a real boy, so the good fairy made him one at the end...).
2021-07-07 17:02:21 +0000 UTCI completely understand dropping DAYS. It is not stellar as a whole, but I think you would find the ending pull together very interesting on the mythology front. Maybe if you fast forward through for just the OTP. Spoilerish: Also, there is a scene with Doom and goddess girl that explains the whole deal with the flower and the butterfly, etc., that you might want to watch to at least see what they were going for with the mythology. It helps tie up the OTP storyline into a pretty bow. I totally get it if you don’t, but I thought PBY and SIG did a pretty good job especially with what they had. Silly me, I’m one of those people who has a really hard time leaving story without knowing the ending. It’s part of why I watch Kdramas. There is an ending. That said, I’m glad it’s over and am totally LOVING Racket Boys!
2021-07-07 16:20:35 +0000 UTCI will just say that, overall that may be true, but on the other hand, one of the main reasons that I stayed with DAYS through to the end is that I can watch Park Bo-young all day long, even when it's in service to a very "meh" script. So her personal charisma is undimmed, in my view... (yes, agreed, I wish she would have a great drama to shine in too).
2021-07-07 14:08:29 +0000 UTCNot voting b/c I have no knowledge of any of these shows, but sorry to see that Park Bo-young has a second disappointment in a row. I hope she crawls out of this rut.
