2020.06.28 GIF Tier Notes and More!
Added 2020-06-28 22:39:38 +0000 UTCHow do the timing of GIF previews work relative to the final movie? READ ON!
Got a great question about the GIF previews the other day and wanted to share the answer with everyone since you might be interested.
This applies specifically to the GIF tier but affects the Animation Tier since they get all the benefits of the GIF and lower tiers.
Question (and I'm paraphrasing) : "Hey Ready, how come all the GIF animations aren't published BEFORE the final movie comes out? Aren't they essentially previews for the movie?"
That’s a good question that makes a few assumptions so let’s walk through things one at a time.
One, there is a presumption the GIFs are some sort of ‘preview’ for the animated movie. While they do serve that function on the side, they are TECHNICALLY the reward for the $5 GIF tier. In other words, they are not really there to only service the $10 Animation Tier. There are quite a few people signed up for the $5 tier and they do not get the movie at the end of the month and for them there is no overlap between the release of the final animation and the final GIF.
Two, I have only been doing this particular schedule for about three months now. Up until that point I am fairly certain all the GIF previews were released earlier than the final movie and there wasn’t any sort of ‘trailer’ GIF showing several scenes from the final movie. Translation– we NOW gets a super packed GIF showing more transformation scenes than before and this preview comes earlier than the movie.
Three, the schedule for the GIF and movie releases are all balanced along the fact the GIFs are serving the GIF tier first (since that is what they are part of ) and as a nice bonus to the Animation Tier since the animation tier gets, well, the final animation as their reward. I work to release these on a reasonable schedule based on the monthly workload and previewing interesting bits.
So, to sum things up…
Using the information above, we slightly changed the way things are released about three months ago with the moving of the final GIF to the end of the month and the ADDING of the trailer GIF with SEVERAL extras scenes (more than two and closer to five) coming in BEFORE the final movie. Now, I am not here to debate how interesting the snippets are to everyone but I do work to make that GIF entertaining though YOUR mileage may vary. It looks like we got MORE animation work all said and done since trailer GIF shows multiple scenes and is released EARLIER than the movie. Basically, we get MORE previews now than before and the majority (with the trailer GIF) are before the final movie.
That said, I hope this helps clear things up. As always, really appreciate the support and the question.
Best and stay safe!
