2020.05.28 Quick Update about Patreon.com sales tax

Wanted to send you a quick update about this since it affects all patrons under any creator on Patreon (not just me, and not just 18+). The short story is Patreon.com will be charging sales tax for things like "digital goods" in various tiers and pledges. Whether or not you will be charged sales tax depends on your location, and what is considered taxable there.

I honestly am not too surprised at this adjustment. This is something all online merchants have been dealing with since jump street on the internet. Your old pal Ready remembers a time way back, when EVERYTHING you bought on the internet was tax free and that was pretty much the main reason you bought on the internet, Well, governments caught onto that and now many if not most of my Amazon.com and other merchant purchases are taxed.

You know your pal Ready is ALWAYS transparent about what you get here. I also work my ass off to be diligent and hit my schedules and delivery EARLY as often as I can. I hope you are enjoying your time on our patron and stay a while.

We still have a LOT of amazing stuff coming down the line! I'll keep you posted as I learn more. Some quick notes:

This is nothing I can turn on or off. Our little patronage here effectively deals with digital goods (comics, movies, art sheets) and these fall under the 'goods for money' section of the tax laws.
Patreon.com will be handling all the taxing and tax amounts themselves, tax rates are nothing I set myself. As I mention above, it's nothing I can turn on or off either.
Patreon.com themselves has notified me (and all other creators on Patreon that this will be starting up on July 1st, 2020.
