As a point of reference, I always imagined a longer period of time between GLab 6 and 7. This was referenced with my own break from the comic but also with where things pick up in 7. How long a break? I don't exactly know but it was enough for a bit of backstory to happen!
Depending on the interest and response I might go in and add details and the like.
