I need to see something! 👁️

Hey y'all, humor me for a second if you can!

I realised I've never asked this question here before because in the past I was afraid any results would confuse me more, but I'm mostly just curious now because either way could / will work in the long run.

I'm curious:

When it comes to channel content on YouTube, do you prefer different types of content to be on separate channels, or all on the one?

For example - K-Pop and K-Drama reactions on one channel, and anime / manga / other shows on another channel?

Or do you think it's easier for you as a viewer with all of it being on one? K-Pop, K-Dramas, Anime, Manga, Games, etc. If so, why? I'd love if you could let me know!

I'm cooking up my content routine for this year which is dope, and in the midst of that I realised I'd never asked and was still pretty curious!

Thanks in advance fam, and I've got a little content update dropping in just a bit too, so keep an eye out for that!

(Alec if you're reading this, this is for science bro)

One channel is totally fine, just would be good to have it organized in playlists.

Lola

Definitely agreed man!

I’ve seen both options work for other creators. If it’s all kept in one channel it’s vital that it is very well organized though, or else it can quickly become a mess if playlists aren’t clear nor up to date.

Juno

Yeah I totally agree and feel the same way!!

imo as long as its organized with playlists so i can find what im interested in then it doesnt matter to me, channels without dedicated playlists make it harder to find certain content.

Thanks for your input Yeonah! Yeah I think that’s one of the prevailing theories around YouTube in general and like where content belongs and stuff. I do agree though that I can see how it makes the channel suffer with too much diversity, but if it’s balanced it could work (albeit with a low success rate). I just wondered if anyone cared on this end as opposed to the way I used to see it because I’d always be like AHHHHH I GOTTA FIGURE THIS SHIT OUT lmao

I seem to remember a while back watching a vid from some creator, who explained that algorithmically, diff content should be in their own channels. Broadly speaking, there are two types of fans, fans that support you specifically and will watch your vids, and fans that only check out what is relevant to them, (like me searching "tripleS reactions" in youtube periodically to see if there is any new ones kek) So when a channel is dedicated to one topic(for example kpop), your channel will have two audiences, your fans, and kpop fans wanting to see reactions to their favs. simple enough, they like kpop? show them your vids, but if you cover multiple topics, suddenly the audience becomes your fans, kpop fans, drama fans, manhwa fans, etc, so it makes stuff way more unbalanced and makes the channel overall suffer in the long run. Or at least thats how I think it went, it's been years so I might be speaking nonsense lmao, as a viewer I don't really mind, either way it will all appear in my subscribers feed in the end.

Yeonah

Hahahah gotta love it man. “I see Lok, I click”

Personally it doesn't matter to me at all - I check my subscriptions page all the time, so all the videos appear there. I probably wouldn't know which channel it comes from if I didn't know what your new channel is for - it's more like I see you and the topic of the video - I click XD

Nah I feel pretty much the same way as you man! Yeah when you bring the algorithm into things it can get messy on making a decision but I feel like lowkey anything can work the way you want it to as long as you're consistent fr! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

LKTV 록희 ロッキー

To me, it doesn’t really matter what the reaction is, to a western show, kdrama, anime, a game, etc. Maybe it isn’t good for the algorithm I would guess, but as a *viewer*, anything in the category of “reaction” makes sense to be in the same place to me. But it also makes sense to have specific places dedicated to different kinds of content with different flows and paces. So idk 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

Yeah I get what you mean for sure man! Thanks for the insight bro! Yeah you can create and curate playlists on YouTube. They can be a little clunky depending on which device you watch them on, but I think most people who were interested in finding certain content probably wouldn't care fr. Thanks again bro!

Addendum: by easier, i mean i don't have to sub to like 3 different channels and then remember their names. Also sometimes I'll have to scroll forever to get to one on my subs, if i haven't watched content from it in a bit.

DKim

It's easier as a viewer if everything is on one channel. As a creator, maybe also? Unless the channel is so big that there's a NEED for a second channel (Blind Wave) or if one is only for gaming. You can always categorize, so it's easier to find specific content, right? I ask bcuz I'm not 100% familiar with YouTube's layout lol.
