It's definitely not an odd question at all :) Sometimes anime might seem like its for like the 'seasoned viewer' or that you have to know or have seen abc in order to enjoy xyz, but it's just like anything else. You can start with anything and see how you like it and I'm sure whilst some stuff might hit and stick others might not. Over here I'm pretty much checking everything out for the first time so I'm new to all the animes I'm watching over here. I've seen a lot beforehand too for example, but they almost never reference each other or are related. Like K-Dramas which you're used to, after a few animes you pick up on certain tropes etc which give you a good idea of what you like / don't like. Anime has tons of different genres and vibes too from like fantasy to isekai (reincarnation), adventure, romance, battle, horror, thriller, psychological, etc. There is tons to discover and love!
