An Idea For Anime Content - Would You Be Interested?
Added 2024-01-09 00:53:54 +0000 UTCHey guys, following the recent post just on the anime update, I thought I’d take the opportunity to ask something I’ve been wondering for a while!
So for a while, I’ve kept throwing this idea around with myself but chickened out and that is regarding the idea of Anime Video Essays on the YouTube channel!
As a reactor, I think I have a pretty jaded or unrealistic view of what people find interesting about my videos, and the easiest one to beat myself down with is “some are probably just here for reactions to like main fight scenes etc and the analysis comes second” (and that’s perfectly okay by the way!!)
Point of saying this is rather, if I was to start making anime / manga (maybe even manhwa) video essays, would anyone be interested in watching them?
I often think I talk a little bit too much, but in addition to reactions would love to frame some topics well and present them in a bit more of a refined manner on the YouTube channel.
These would probably include like full scale reviews of animes once we’ve finished them (for some), and other more nuanced videos like say anime series-specific (e.g Naruto, Bleach, etc) character analysis videos or even volume reviews for the Big 3 mangas and literally any other type of video you could think of.
I’ve got a lot of things I’d like to peep, but right now I’m making a video on the first book of Bakemonogatari as I’m currently reading the light novels.
I know this maybe sounds like a silly question, but it also serves as a way for potentially getting some of you guys who might be interested hyped as well because I haven’t really expressed my intention to do this yet, at least explicitly for anime.
These would be occasional and not regular as I’d want to take my time, but let me know!
Would love to hear your thoughts, and if you’re willing (totally okay if not!), let me know what series you’re watching with me over here and maybe what you enjoy about the videos! I might be able to use some of it as good feedback when I start making these types of videos.

Honestly this sounds great and I think it would work great. I love your videos but I bet some of your pauses for analysis would fit even better as notes or points in video essays as well. You have some really good takes/points that would fit essay videos very well. You could even react to other video essays for One Piece or Bleach or MHA as well to add to the context haha as if you weren't busy enough :)

2024-01-09 04:00:57 +0000 UTCI would love this, honestly. Since you mentioned Naruto, I personally think it would be great to hear what you have to say. For me, when it comes to Naruto (and I will keep it to the OG series), it's the “IMO! The quintessential hero's journey. Yes, he's a Shonen character that has that hero journey. But! Naruto is different. He has great power with the Fox spirit, but he sucks at everything. At least early on. It wasn't easy for him. There is no “every time I lose and come close to death, I come back stronger!.” ❤️DB/Z/S. Or naturally, it is a gift for some reason or another and is just good at it. It isn't easy for him, and it shouldn't be. What. “IMO,” he is the definition of I learn from my failures and mistakes. He's the hero who isn't your favorite character until he becomes your favorite character, even if it's a short burst—a Luke Skywalker. Luke isn't my favorite Star Wars character until he becomes one. Most importantly, what makes a hero a hero is whom you surround yourself with. And Naruto has some of the best-supporting cast. Lord of the Rings as an example our good guys one cause they need each other. You remove an element they lose, and the dark lord rises and wins. Their depth and texture their but not just the cast; the village itself, Konohagakure, is a character itself. Kishimoto really understood and laid out a well-crafted story. Focus on world-building. Focus on character development. Allowing the reader/watcher to get pulled in and immerse themselves without us realizing how invested we are getting until. Bam! Someone dies or gets seriously injured. And all this is centralized around an idiot—an idiot who is wiser beyond his age. And he doesn't know it cause he's an idiot. There is tragedy behind our main, the same way there is tragedy behind our “villains.” I love that we get to explore that in OG and beyond. Ive seen many animes that hit the floor running. For some, that was a good thing, and they have a great writer(s) who can keep moving while still telling a great story. But most eventually stumble. And stumble to a point where they can't catch themselves before they crash on their face. With Naruto, there are others like this. “They went for a walk around the park.” and I love that. I’ll end it with. I’m enjoying your reactions to one of my favorite anime/manga. And if you're down for essays, then I'm here and ready to watch… after the TripleS one, you teased, bro. LFG! I should said Yeah, do it. 🤣

I'd love an in-depth review/analysis of each anime you complete, it would also be good for attracting new viewers to the channel since reviews and opening reaction videos seem be recommended a lot.

I think in the anime community I’ve mainly seen either the tea videos (MAPPA’s scandals recently) and mostly powerscaling stuff so I never really thought that me just talking about how much I love the characters like Tsunade or Choji would have much of a place or community on YT, but I’m willing to give it a go! Glad the excessive chatter isn’t off-putting either haha

I think out of many animes, i'm deeply attached to characters in naruto the most and i think a lot of characters in naruto has a very relatable personality and i'll be interesting to discuss. After i watch naruto as an adult, i always think about the character's personality and how would i deal with a person who has this and that kind of personality and history irl as it brings about a lot of mental health issues and real life struggles. So yes i would love to know your views on them as well. I've been following you since ep1 naruto and i really don't mind if you talked a lot because that shows how much you're into it and how much it touches your heart. That makes me even happier to know that you're enjoying it as much as i do. Naruto is that one very special anime for me.

It could also give you the chance to talk about things you've already seen on your own, or like how you threw the idea of reading solo leveling on your own after the anime and then put out essays on that. I think it would give you and us more of a chance to talk about those things than just on amine reactions. Sorry if that didn't make too much sense, but tldr: yes, I think that would be nice, lol.

2024-01-09 01:06:07 +0000 UTCI would personally like this, as long as there are labeled discussion sections or like a list of time stamps, only because if I have to start and stop I’m more likely to remember what “chapter” I was on vs. a time in the video. You might also capture more engagement this way from people who are interested in some parts of the discussion but not all parts. They can skip to the bit they want to hear your thoughts on. 👍🏻

For say Naruto this video that I really want to make first is like how I basically went from being absolutely turned off by the hype (same with OP etc) when I was younger and turning it into a review of what I loved about base Naruto (pre-Shippuden) and talking about Kishimoto’s character building, the plot development, etc. Character stuff I just used as an example because I seem to talk about it a lot lately 🤣 But I’d be interested in those videos too honestly
